If he couldn't make it work attitude wise in Portland than he won't be able to make it work anywhere. Sounds like we have one of the most chill player atmospheres in the league with the players environment and star player not playing favorites.
Hell no Shit well there goes that. We were talking about how Houston was in play for drafting Payton since he fills a defensive need for them, and they like Harden handling the ball. Good fit for Payton.
Where are those options? Portland needs someone with some attitude. I don't see any "better" fits for backup PG than GPII. Layman isn't quick enough to guard the SF in the NBA. I think his only shot of sticking is becoming a small ball 4.
Most people here seem to think he'll be a stretch PF. I don't think he can be a good PF because of poor defense and rebounding but I also don't think he's athletic enough to be a SF.
I haven't seen Layman play much at all..just from what I watched on youtube tonight he's actually very quick and recovers on defense really well. You like Payton...that's fine..I don't. I think Layman is the better choice
I call horse shit on payton having character issues. http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2016/06/a_different_side_of_mr_mean_ga.html Great article from a few days ago
I hope you're right....he's been talked up by a lot of folks..just not anyone I know. He can afford a good agent, that's for sure
Another one talking about paytons leadership growth and coach tinkle giving him props http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2016/03/vocal_leadership_growth_keyed.html
Going into the draft I had extremely low expectations. But I was hoping we'd get a pick in the 20s or early 30s to land Georgios Papagiannis - who skyrocketed to the lotto. I like Layman as insurance if/when Mo Harkless bolts. Jake has a skillset thst fits in really well with the Stotts system.
