Hayward is still a good player. It’s not our money. Do it. Depth and talent (and a pick)? Sign me up.

In a vacuum, I'd agree, but a couple random thoughts in response:
    1. Not my money.
    2. This reaction is without context -- without knowing what the other opportunities available are, hard to make a definitive statement on it either way. If this is the best way to capitalize on Bledsoe's contract, so be it...
    3. Bad contracts eventually become tradeable assets -- I'm purely reading tea leaves here, but it seems like Cronin is trying to build a bridge for Dame and post-Dame, and Duren + a large expiring contract aren't the worst assets to carry into a new era.

I'm certainly not sprinting to the top of the Moda Center to scream my excitement about this deal, but it feels like a good use of assets to me...

Bledsoe, Winslow, Didi JUST misses being enough money to land Hayward. Unless we wait to make it official on the new league year salaries.

B-Roy said: Hayward + 15 for Bledsoe, DiDi and Winslow?

I prefer not to give up Winslow in that deal. Even with his lack of length, I value his D coming off the bench
guarding PFs......unless we drafted someone like Sochan who could fill that defensive void.

ah... stupid Fanspo is already using 22-23 numbers. But waiting a week to finalize this is fine by me.

That's exactly what we'd do then, just like we are with Grant. It would still be announced today, ESPN would report whatever pick like it was being picked for us. Hayward and 13 for those guys makes sense.

If we can do this without giving up the 7th pick, it will completely change my opinion of Cronin.

I think the Blazers trading out is 50/50 at this point

IF trade then Thunder the obvious place BUT if they keep the pick unless someone surprising falls to 7 they will take .....

Duren -- I think the Blazers want someone to backup and maybe even replace Nurk in 3 years plus he would be insurance since Nurk has shown he has a hard time staying healthy plus Duren has crazy upside even if has legit BUST potential too

and vindicate everyone who was touting the flexibility we created.

would take a financial commitment from Jody/Bert. Dubious of that.

If Joe is able to basically build a semi-contender in less than a year, that's going to be such a punch to the nuts for Neil. I would absolutely love it.

If it's only a semi contender, it better not be at the cost of future talent.

I haven’t really participated in all the draft/trade threads going on around here. I’ve posted a couple times but not much.
One thing I do notice is there is no clear number one. I’m watching the pre draft tv shows and they are all asking the same question. What order will the top three be taken?
Last few years there was no question. This year is quite a bit different.

There's consensus about who the top 4 guys are and that two of the three forwards in that group will go one and two. After that there's really no clear cut draft order either. It feels like the most unpredictable draft I can remember but I doubt that anything in this draft will be as unpredictable as the first pick in the 2013 NBA draft.
