It doesn't matter if his intent was to actually hit the ref or not. The rules strictly forbid his actions. He was throwing a tantrum because of a call that went against him, he made "overt actions in resentment of a call" and in doing so, he made physical contact with an official. Both are strictly forbidden. Should have been a tech. He should have been tossed. Might have changed the game.
The guy BARKS at the refs and makes arm gestures after EVERY call. The problem is they let him get away with it all season and fell like they can't start calling it now, in the playoffs. The last tech I got was for saying one word - seriously. Seriously, the word was seriously - after an exceptionally bad blown call. I said it with such sarcasm that one ref T'ed me up while the other ref nearly wet himself laughing. BNM
Then again, I loved Sheed's fire...Draymond has that..not a problem for me...now that Clippers group..that's just annoying whining...Draymond has that Sheed roar
I wasn't saying he shouldn't have gotten one, just that they probably interpreted it as accidental which is why they decided not to throw him out. If he didn't have one already, I'm wondering if they would have T'd him up. I've seen accidental contact before go uncalled. I just thought from the replay he saw him in time to avoid him or at least would have immediately reacted with an "I'm sorry" reaction. Nothing.
Why you wishing for Draymond to get ejected? A full power Golden State Warriors too much for us to handle? CMON
The key term there that you didn't put in bold was "unsportsmanlike." Accidental contact is not considered unsportsmanlike. In the context of the opening clause, it's clear that (2) refers to intentional contact. As for (3), sure, you can make that argument, but that's subjective. We have people pissed at Henderson getting a technical foul due to reacting to a missed officiating call and then laughing at Livingston being ejected when he was reacting to an even more blatant missed call. If the Livingston thing had happened to a Blazers player, no one would be laughing at the ejection...they'd be furious over the rigged nature of the NBA. In other words, fanbases aren't the best choices to determine judgment calls of their own or opposing team players.
Probably because he deserved it? I think most people just like to watch a game where the rules are enforced. That's what makes it an organized sport and not rec ball.
Not really seeing the equivalency between the Livingston and Henderson ejections. Henderson already had one T and so was ejected for going off a bit after the leg whip. If he hadn't already had a T, he wouldn't have been ejected. Livingston reacted enough to get a T and then must have said some magic words to earn a second one and get ejected. But, yeah, fans aren't really what you'd call an unbiased source of opinion on officiating.
I'm not saying the specific details were equivalent (i.e. that Livingston didn't do more than Henderson--he clearly did, thus the two technicals), just the general idea that it was funny when Livingston got penalized for substantially the same reason as Henderson, which didn't elicit much mirth here.
Henderson got ejected for verbally responding to taunting from Sideshow Boob, and not even in any kind of aggressive manner. Livingston got ejected after a second T in which he called the ref a motherfucker and other assorted continued bitching. Green should have been T'd up and subsequently ejected for his histrionics after a call, in which he made no effort to avoid hitting the ref and in hitting the ref opened up a gash in the refs hand. He later qualified for a T, at the discretion of the ref, for the confrontational shit he was yelling at Ed Davis. NBA refs: Not consistent.
I have to say that I just do not find Green that annoying. He is a hard competitor that plays hard and is very demonstrative. Heck, for years we have seen Duncan's popping eyes and complaining - I can accept it from good players that just play emotionally and well during games. Green is a great player - and as long as he is not over the top (which to me at least he is not) - I am sure that the refs know when he crosses the line and when not.
Anytime you throw your arms up like he does then he needs a T. He showing up the official I don't care what level your playing it is T. The time throw is arms up and hit the official than your kick out it doesn't matter if you was trying or not. You wouldn't hit the official if you didnt throw fit first one the other official should have toss him because they suppose have each back.
It appeared to me that Loudmouth Donkey Green knew exactly where the ref was and even glanced down towards his hand/arm to line up his arm flailing tantrum -- he's a great actor this way -- making things appear as though they were unintentional, but in reality that's what he meant to do the whole time. And if that wasn't enough, the charging towards the refs and standing at half court screaming at them should have easily been enough. Long live the SterNBA and its agenda!
