This has been the worst day in Oregon sports history... Blazers lose to a bad team, Ducks out of playoffs, and Beavs likely just lost Bowl eligibility (because I can’t see them beating a mad Ducks team in Eugene).
Wow. What a heartbreaking finish to the Beavers game. Cant believe the beavers decided to go for that last 4th down and 4. They could have punted and most likely held WSU from scoring from that field position.
I cant believe Cristobal wasted a time out with like 9 minutes to go in the 4th... Would be been nice to have at the end of the game. Oregon though, hasnt really looked like a team that deserved a playoff spot. Their only good looking win was USC. They easily couldve lost too the Huskies and the Cougars and collapsed vs Auburn. Their offense all year has had issues getting going, or having long draughts where they screw over their defense. Speaking of which how do you get beat over the top on 3rd and long... Oregon State is gonna really want next week and Oregons got really nothing to play for until the pac12 championship game. Could be interesting.
I havent been a Herbert fan... I think he has a fantastic NFL physique and may be a really good NFL QB someday but in terms of College QB’s I think he’s more in line with just above average then Heismann esque. His good, he takes care of the ball, except tonight I guess. He has pretty good pocket presence. The bad, the option with him was a joke he would have nothing but grass in front of him and the end crashing down he was still handing it off. I think he’s getting better at making NFL throws, but its still a work in progress, his anticipation isnt elite, he doesnt throw guys open very well and he tends to hold on to the ball and not move on to his 2nd, 3rd reads. Almost all his cons to me are fixable and he’s improved on them, but I dont think I ever his entire career at Oregon wouldve had him in like the top 10 or so QB’s in the country in terms of what he is right now. Really hope he does well in the NFL, he’ll go down in Oregons books as a top 5 or so QB in their programs history, and some of the issues have been beyond him, coaching carousel, injured WR’s, skill positions in general have been a bit down. Most of the NFL hype to me is his potential as an athlete, not what he’s accomplished in college.
we might need to put out APB's on hoopsjock and Tlongll. After the Blazer game, the way the Beavers got beat might have them on window ledges
Just average QB's don't win this many games in the NCAA. He is very good. No maybe not Heisman. Seems like the standard is a bit high here. He is 6-6 and has tremendous strength. He is durable and throws exacting route passes. He is smart and has just about as much talent as any QB in the league. Yes he will be an NFL QB. Now when he gets there it's up to him to excel there also.
omg especially that beavers game. Ima huge duck fan but always root for the success of oregon state but that game hurt. Why they didn’t punt it and pin them down deep in their own territory is beyond me
Lots of average qb’s win in college... AJ McCarron won like 2 National Championships. Its not so much the standards, but the hype. They have talked Herbert up a lot and his on field production hasnt matched it. If they werent talking #1 overall pick and he should be in the Heisman race and all that Id find it more palateable.
Oregon has everything to play for, last home game for a lot of seniors, rivalry, and it’s gonna be a game they can blow emotions off on.
