Lmao. 9 straight years with a win, 3 straight years in the Sweet 16, two of which were Elite 8s and one was a national championship appearance. How do they get exposed...? That's such a silly opinion, and you know it. You're likely basing it off a couple of times Gonzaga got upset (ex. Wichita State the year when they were the best 9 seed ever). Guess what, when you make the tournament every year, you'll get upset. Duke, Michigan State, etc...
I'm not talking about upsets at all. During their 9 straight years with a win, who did they beat? That's right. Until the last few years nobody. Then they lose just like every year.
So you make the tourney every year because your conference sucks. Then that is shown damn near every year when you get put out.
And absolutely nothing that I'm stating has anything to do with Oregon. Plus, I like the Ducks but I'm not some fan boy. I am however, a big fan of Prichard and think he will prove you wrong. Which is the whole reason this argument started in the first place.
Based on that graphic, Over the past 18 years, Gonzaga has: Underperformed their seed 5 times; Performed exactly as expected per their seed 8 times; Outperformed their seed 5 times. Looks like they're a pretty average tourney team.
Apparently, Manute Bol might has been as old as 50 when he played in the NBA. Well, that's is worth discussing....
Every good team except 1 loses every year. You're still trying to backup the theory that they always "get exposed"? If their average seed is 8.5. If it was a 1 seed, they'd either preform to their seed or underperform their seed, which could classify them as a bad tournament team, with your logic. But that just says to me that's Gonzaga doesn't get an underserved seeding then gets exposed like @dviss1 says. They earn the seed they get.
Seriously? What a hater. To even ask that question... They've won the last 9 years. Obviously their good enough. The educated college basketball fan knows the value and talent of programs such as Gonzaga, Wichita State, etc.
You realize automatic bids start at the 11th/12th seed line, and that at large bids go to that? So Gonzaga is usually above at large teams. I'm sorry, but you sound like such an ignorant hater.
Yeah, somehow you turned my opinion on Pritchard into you spouting ignorant opinions of Gonzaga, because you're a huge fan of Pritchard and don't like when someone says he isn't NBA quality. Nice one.
YOU were the one who talked shit about Oregon getting Bol Bol, Pritchard etc.. Saying they get mediocre recruits... Then you go and say that their conference influences their recruiting. Giving Gonzaga a crutch... If Gonzaga wasn't in that WACK ass conference, they might not even make the tourney some of those years under self. I stand by this statement.
You're the one hating on my Gonzaga team with some invalid claims because you didn't like that I thought Payton Pritchard wasn't an NBA player. You need to figure that out.
Yet, logic, the committee, and facts disagree with that final statement. But you're just hating. There's no way Gonzaga should be more successful in the past 20 years than Oregon, because of their conference plus their Phil Knight influence. They're just now starting to recruit at the level they should, but we'll see if it even translates to anything.
Bones, come on. Few inherited a team that made a Regional Final. Ernie Kent inherited nothing and then when he coached up some decent teams it went right back into the gutter again. Altman didn't even have enough players for an intersquad scrimmage when he arrived. Knight's only contribution that actually made a diff was the Arena. And 7 coaches STILL turned them down (including Few.) They knew how difficult it was to succeed in football-crazy school with no sway among recruits. If anything, this program was built on the backs of transfers. That's why the team is just now seeing that translate into blue chip players.
Inheriting a Pac-12 team is inheriting more than a one-year mid major Cinderella. But maybe I'm overrating Knight's impact, but what Dviss is saying about Gonzaga is flat out blasphemous and wrong.
