reports were that Mario and Ty Thompson talked about preserving his redshirt season, and TT decided he wanted to preserve it. IIRC, Thompson has already played in the max number of games (4). The 3rd string QB (Butterfield) may be hurt
like I said....I guess I wouldn't call it reports, just that insiders said that was the case. Besides, putting in Ty against that Utah defense may not have been a good idea, he's not nearly as mobile or as physical as Anthony Brown. Utah was merciless on defense tonight
I honestly feel sorry for Oregon fans. They need to look at the U of O athletic department the way they look at Blazer management - don't believe the hype. If the team was as talented as they believe, Mario leaving wouldn't be a problem. Top coaches would be happy to take the job.
https://www.columbian.com/news/2021...erriweather-when-news-of-lsu-departure-broke/ funny little story about ol Brian Kelly
congratulations, you're the epitome of Bitter Beavis. Hopefully someday you'll know the joy of rooting for your team as they win and not just the pain of losing. STOMP
No. He is not. Being a great coach and a great recruiter are two different things. He just got his ass kicked two weeks ago by Utah and absolutely looked worse tonight. No adjustments. No player development. The most untimely, significant penalties over and Over. 3rd and long? Just through it up and the Ducks will get PI. Every single time. Mario need to go to Miami. Oregon recruits itself.
haha Oregon recruits itself lol. Helfrich and Taggert couldn’t recruit shit. unfortunately this team was absolutely rattled by injuries and had an end of the season collapse. Young team. Next year my expectations will be higher. They were low going into this season. Thankfully I’ll never have to watch Anthony Brown QB ever again
Helfrich recruited mariota. Taggart had very good recruits. I will GLADLY be a top 20 recruiting class with good coaching vs a top 5 class with bad coaching. Mario can’t coach.
The data suggests to be a national champion you pretty much have to be a top 10 recruiter. Helfrich was a terrible recruiter and it led to a 4-8 record. No MC team will ever finish 4-8, he brings in way too much talent. MC needs to give up more control and stick to his strengths: Recruiting and OL development. Let his assistants shine where he is weak.
Bingo. Something also has to change with the pregame or whatever they’re doing to rack up so many injuries. I don’t think it was just fluky, for a team that prides itself on strength and conditioning
I don't know enough about this stuff, but the amount of serious injuries this roster faced was crazy. Oregon was talented, but only about 2 teams in the country have the depth to overcome that volume of injuries. Hopefully it's not on the S&C program.
Thompson has only played in 3 games. I suspected if Oregon won today, you wouldn't have seen him in the Rose Bowl. However, at this point, I think the right play is to start him and play Butterfield in the Alamo Bowl to start getting a feel for how serious they need to hit the transfer portal for a QB.
I been telling ya all season about Christobal. Guy is a trash in game coach. Why do these big jobs want Christobal? Go hire Utah coach. That guy would absolutely love to have the superstars Christobal gets. kyle whitingham takes 2 and 3 star recruits and continuously does more with them. I applaud that dude.
100% this. Give me a top 20 recruiting class but a master X and Os coach. That’s what Utah’s coach does. Fuck this amazing recruiting bullshit. Christobal can’t coach for shit
I noticed that Utahs O & D line, and line backers were much faster. Now, Oregon looked very slow last night period. If Utah had started the season with that QB they could have run the table in the Pac 12. I would expect them to beat MSU, MICH, OSU or IOWA whoever plays them in the Roses Bowl. The way Utah uses the one back, multiple tight ends and slot receivers is impressive and hard to defend.
