Idk if they were Fresno fans or not, but they were definitely Californians. That'd be my guess at least.
People have biases. Even if they say they don't, they do. Even if these announcers didn't go to Fresno, somewhere along the line they developed biases. Whether when Whitner played for the niners he worked out at Fresno, or they had lived there or love to visit. It was inherently obvious they were for Fresno to win. The delivery seemed like a chore for them when they had to acknowledge OSU did something good. Just saw Whitner is an analyst for the Bay area..... there you go. Surely no bias was ever created there.
Oh I get the money enticement and sure they will probably jump for it if invited in. If an improved TV revenue package can be achieved and that gap is narrowed I still think Oregon could consider staying put and have a chance to better compete/contend than playing in the expanded big 10. We will see.
The guy I know is from South Texas, don't think he's spent any time in Cali other than the occasional gig.
I wonder what the makeup of the TV audience was? I could see Fresno having more viewers than OSU just because of the California TV market.
According to this, Beavers have last in Pac 12 TV ratings over the last decade. https://duckswire.usatoday.com/list...y-tv-performance-ratings-in-past-half-decade/
The Beavs are 30-67 in Pac-12 games since the conference added Utah and Colorado in 2011. 11 of those wins were in two seasons (last year and 2012). That means in the other 9 seasons they've only won a combined 19 games. Not exactly the way to pull eyeballs.
They seemed extra hyped whenever Fresno made a big play, but at the same time I thought their announcing was completely fair.
You're saying finish your drink every time Coletto plows through an opposing player? That's every time he touches the ball. You should modify that rule before you kill someone.
Without any big markets in their cache (so fewer eyeballs on the products being pitched), what kind/philanthropic media company is going to improve the revenue package to the point the gap is narrowed and any Pac 12 team can compete nationally? I hate that the end of the Pac 8/10/12 is likely in site. Just sucks. It's hard to imagine that I'm going to enjoy watching my Duckies nearly as much no matter what happens. STOMP
