The Chip era was really fun but it's over. We've seen what someone who is motivated can do with the beautiful facilities at Oregon when it comes to recruiting. Recruiting is not Chip's strong point. If we have to find a new coach we have to move forward, not backward.
Bad dog. Why oh why would you post a Canzano tweet? Why would anyone give two shits what coach that douche thinks the Ducks might go after.
...the clamoring for a Chipper re-run is hilarious to me, especially given the fact that everyone watched the Beavers attempt this when Mike Riley came back for his second stint. That failed miserably.
I am with ya Sly -- HELL NO to Chip but the Ducks need a coach that has a offensive Mind like Kelly but the Work ethic and passion of Mario. When this started to become a reality of Mario leaving while I was disappointed to be honest but after seeing the Ducks get waxed 2 times by Utah in 3 weeks and such the luster has kind of come off Mario. I wish Mario the best unlike Willie who I will dislike forever and I think Mario will have better success then Willie did after he left I am not sold that he is a Championship quality HC. I think Mario is a good solid HC but not elite by having a consistent 7 to 8 Wins per year type coach and that is not enough for the Ducks who want to be in the hunt for a championship plain and simple.
The ducks need to find a coach who wants to be at Oregon, not one who is just using Oregon as a stepping stone. Hard to figure out, but I would not go after anyone from the south, they will head back first time one of the southern colleges come calling.
Ok, then this thread is going to be all things Ducks. Last night ,in basketball: Oregon Men's basketball team lost their first Pac-12 game tonight in overtime to an Arizona State team that had lost four straight. None of the transfers have done much so far. Will Richardson is having a really bad start to the season and he missed a wide open three late in overtime that probably would have won the game for Oregon. Altman did try the twin towers tonight; Dante and the five star Bittle. Not really impressive. He played Kepnang most of the time and he did pretty good. They will have another week to prepare for Stanford so hopefully they can make some progress by then. Soares, who has been a reserve, had his best game tonight so maybe he will be the one who breaks out.
According to Canzano, Cristobal was offered a 10 year, $85 million extension and he failed to sign it before the Utah game. It has now been pulled off the table. https://www.oregonlive.com/sports/j...ienated-the-only-booster-hes-ever-needed.html
Another thought on Mario --- when i watched this team specially on offense I could not help but compare this to the Blazers with Stotts. The systems worked within reason but also kind of predictable at times and not going to lie made the Ducks offense kind of boring to watch. Also cause of what i just said I think made it easier to stop at times by the more talented teams or teams that could match up with the Ducks like Utah.
Sigh. Well, $8M per year is a ton of money for a coach who can’t seem to figure out basic clock management. Hello Chip?
I wish Mario the Best. He wants to be near his mom who is struggling health wise. He's going home. He set the table for what could be a nice future for Oregon. Unfortunately this year having a ,Just OK QB, killed the drive. Is what it is. Hopefully Thompson will be able to develop under a new coach. But i have no idea who fits best going forward. I want a coach where Oregon IS, his dream job.
