I’m not sure if they’re going to hire Lanning or not. But if he’s the guy I think he’ll be a home run. Kind of a Cristobal of defensive recruiting. At one point was listed as the #1 recruiter. https://247sports.com/Season/2022-Football/CompositeCoachRankings/ I’d be curious who he brings in as coordinators.
are you a beaver fan? because I could certainly say plenty of insulting things about beaver fans, especially if I wanted to pretend they were all the same
right now it certainly looks like he's the hire. It hasn't been formalized yet and the delay is finalizing the contract plus I think Oregon wants Lanning to be in Eugene when he's signed. And he couldn't get thee to Monday according to rumor rumor is also that the Ducks and Lanning are working out the particulars of if Lanning can still call the Georgia D in the playoffs. Personally, if Lanning is the guy I think that's not a good idea. He needs to be devoting his time to assembling a coaching staff and salvaging what he can of the recruiting class. It will be hard to do that in Georgia
Totally agree. Tough to leave a team like Georgia right now but there’s a lot to do, and quickly. Need to retain recruits and get a staff together. Need to meet with current players. I love the Lanning hire if it goes through. Assuming he hires a great OC and they are willing to spend on assistants.
Lanning will have a chance to build on what Cristobal started. If he can develop Thompson, the sky's the limit. I like what i'm hearing about him.
good grief, go start a Ducks Suck thread that you guys can all coalesce your pissing and moaning fandom around. Keep it going for years and make it 100+ pager. This one is about Oregon's coaching search, not your whining. STOMP
Being a state job, the Oregon HC position is required to be open for a minimum of 7 calendar days before it is filled. Monday will be day 7 STOMP
btw, Lanning is 35 and played LB at William Jewel college in Missouri. He has 3 boys and his wife is a cancer survivor. If he is indeed the guy, pretty doubtful he'll leave Oregon for his alma mater. STOMP
Still think it's someone else. Probably someone with head coaching experience. If Phil is offering big money some of these hot young head coaches along with a few guys that have been out of coaching a couple years would most likely be interested as well. The timing is really messed up for some of these guys and Oregon.
Jordan Lanning on how long he thinks Dan would stay if he got the Oregon HC job: “A HC job is a different beast. There’s a decent chance he would stick around a lot longer than previous stops, because it’s his own program and he could build it his way. I think there’d be a lot more loyalty than with him being a DC.” (Paraphrasing) “If you look back at our last two coaches with Taggart and Cristobal, they both left Oregon for their dream jobs in Florida. So is there any chance at all that your brother has a dream to coach at the University of Florida or some other Florida school?” Jordan: “No. We grew up in a suburban town outside of Kansas City, the main schools were K State, KU, and Mizzou. Oregon is better than all 3.” from Twitter spaces? Whatever the hell that is
