Ducks should just grab Wilcox. That is probably his dream job. Get another guy that can last 20 years like Belotti. I'm still annoyed Belotti left. He was great and making things happen when I was still a Duck fan.
Not sure you can replace Marios recruiting, Ive heard he is fantastic in front of parents and his work ethic in recruiting will be tough to match.
brace yourselves...the latest buzz for the current leader, or t least one who has interest in the job and the Ducks have interest in him: Lane Kiffin
Seen that on 247. Sounded more like it was someone's opinion that he take advantage and jump now for the west coast opportunity. He would be real interesting for sure!
his defense had a lot of bad games. 118th out of 130 teams in opponent 3rd down conversion rate was a big reason. 2 years ago, when the Ducks won the Pac-12 and the Rose Bowl, they were 22nd
How about a young guy like Avalos as coach? The guy from Baylor was a defensive coordinator and seems to be high on everyone's list. Andy is also a CA guy.
Boise State had their worst record this season since 1998. That's not a good sign for Avalos as a head coach. At Boise State, Chris Peterson lost 12 games in 8 seasons; Avalos lost 5 in his first season. There may be some mitigating circumstances in this, but still....
Just seems that most of the candidates Ive heard about didn't come out of the gate quick. Even DeBore at WA.
ok...but he went 11-2 his 2nd season. We don't know what Avalos will do in his 2nd season. personally I think both carry lots of risk. Aranda has only coached 2 seasons, Avalos just 1. At least with guys like Fickell & Kiffin there are several seasons of gauges
A week ago, when somebody told me Brian Kelly had left for LSU, For a second, I thought they were referring to Chip Kelly. Makes more sense. Chip would revolutionize the SEC! It would be akin to a food fight on Animal House.
Do you really think the Ducks are playing their cards face up on this search? I'd expect their true targets would rather not let their current employers know they're interviewing and they're throwing out red herrings to keep the speculation at bay. Besides generally being perceived as a scumbag, the longest Lane has ever stayed at any coaching gig is 3 years. Given the desertion of their last two HCs, does that sound like the sort of guy they want to reload around? STOMP
