WOOHOO! 1st place in my 1st time every playing head-to-head. It's much harder, but it is more fun. Having to balance a rotation, is not easy. I got lucky as I had a super solid rotation. -Petey
My squad slipped to second place, but still has a chance to overtake the leader depending on what happens today. Alexei's grand slam yesterday was a huge help. Over the past ten days, my team pretty much shut down, and when Cliff Lee, Chad Billingsley, and Kyle Lohse all bagged their final starts I thought that would end it. My league is infinitely harder than any yahoo! head-to-head league.
my league is specifically designed to be hard! If your league looks like every other league, then valuing players is very simple.
well, we have seven offensive categories and six pitching categories. We have two divisions of seven teams each. At the end of the year, the winner of each division goes head-to-head in season-long stats to see who the overall winner is, which adds a whole other level of strategy. You could have the best team in points but lose in the head-to-head, and if you have a big lead, you can engineer your team based on who you think you will face in the finals. It also increases the incentive to make trades with teams in the other division, because it doesn't directly affect you as much. Our scoring system used to be a full point for every team in your own division that you were better than in a category, but just a half point for teams you are better than in the other division (we unfortunately had to scrap that when TQStats was sold). Our position eligibility is based on where a player ACTUALLY PLAYS this year, and can shift over the course of the year, which can leave you scrambling for a new 2B or SS (there's both a year-to-date rule and a two-week rule). You can only pick up free agents once every three weeks, so you have to plan ahead somewhat. The draft is a mathematically modified snake draft which is kind of confusing but infinitely more fair.
