What could we get from Miami in addition to taking Duncan Robinson's contract off their hands that we could possibly parlay in another deal? Obviously on it's own, it wouldn't be a home run, but has potential to be a decent fall back plan.

Probably too late to get sweet compensation for taking Robinson off Miami's hands.

Sometimes you got to buy low to get value.

He’s averaging 8-1-1 in the playoffs.

He makes 20 mill per season.

    Good shooter, piss poor defense.

    Which compounds our biggest issue.

He’s had a couple decent games.

    Not interested.

Decent back up plan doesn’t work. It’s either a high level player that will truly vault us deep into the playoffs, or trade Lillard. And, if we trade Lillard we will have a completely different basket of players/picks to use in assembling a new-look Blazers.

Yes, it's too late now. The window to buy low and sell high has passed.

My point, a year ago, was that getting him and another asset for someone who doesn't play could've been worth considered. For example, we'd have his contract to attach to a #3 pick where we felt adding a playing of Ant's talent is too much.

However, these are still the types of value moves an organization like the Blazers need to always be on the lookout for.

Agreed. I didn’t check the date.
On the other hand, it’s not too late to buy high and sell low…

    A better name: John Collins

Id rather have a decent player that has the potential to get back to above average than someone who is likely a bench talent

The question is: Can the Blazers get Collins at a value this off-season that you think will considered well under market value a year from now?

Given Hawks tax status, I think so.

If you can trade Ant to Orlando for #11 & cap space...

Hawks could be brought in where Portland sends #23 for Collins.

Portland probably could trade down with #23 with another team (Indiana?) and send #28(?) to Atlanta & keep the other assets

    In essence it would be:
    Ant + 23 <=> Collins + 11 + future seconds

If Blazers had been planning to build a contender with Dame this summer they should've had more tradeable contracts.

They could've done moves such as resign Ingels last year and have a big non guarantees amount this next season.

The problem is now the Blazers have to send out a starter just to match salary, even if a trade partner only wants a pick.

Just another reason Jody and Cronin have killed their flexibility to add winning talent to this roster since Olshey, while pinching pennies but trying to portray that falsely as flexibility.

The only good things they've done is lost games to get Sharpe and lost again plus lottery luck for #3. I'm glad we have those assets.

Just wish we had done some of these other simple moves if we were actually serious about trying to win soon, which at times it's very hard to believe.

Billups would put Duncan at PF/Center

guaranteed to get mauled in the paint, and help the losing cause for higher draft picks

Missed two wide open looks in the last 90 seconds that could've been daggers.
