What!? Arm buffness ain't going to help Murphy play better defense or be like Erick Dampier. Explain. I'm totally confused.

Thats not what I was talking about but it very well could. I was just saying he would LOOK like a white version of Eric Dampier. Dampier is tall and has some guns. Fisher is short so his guns are more prominent...

Ok, well be more concise, because I was saying looking stronger in their arms ain't going to help them play defense with their feet or get them to be more physical on offense. As far as muscle looks, different body types and skin tones so it's hard to compare one player to the next... (There is a theory that darker skintones accentuate more of the muscle so it looks more toned, it's also why professional body builders slap on some stuff to make their skin looked more bronzed and darker. Also taller players and smaller players, squatty players and skinny players, different body types. I don't know where Murphy fits in but he's not terribly big shouldered like Dampier, but he's tall like him. I'm nitpicking btw)

My main argument was about arm buffness not having to do anything with defense. I've seen Fisher play physical D with his squatty bulkiness in his arms, legs, chest, shoulders, back, whatever, but he doesn't use his all those things like Sam Cassell or Nick Van Exel does to create separation on offense either warding off a defender with a free arm, posting up, or lowering a shoulder. Majority of all that muscle is probably best used in a player's legs. You know Fish will get burnt the way he moves, but I like how he's using his body on defense and trying to stay one step ahead to draw a charge at least. If he's thick, he's got more strength pound for pound in playing bigger than he is. The problem is he doesn't use it on offense to create his own shot. Maybe he can't?

Now I wish the same was for Murphy. He can keep somebody out of the paint kind of, but he's pretty slow with his feet so most ballhandlers can get around him easily and can do step around moves. He also doesn't use his body enough on offense. I was making a point that Murphy's slowness and lack of physical offensive game really can't be helped despite being strong already or trying to get stronger or just looking strong, so people not fast, not strong have to play more energetic and with hustle to make up for the fact they'll both get lost on D very often or will get outmuscled on some matchups. Murphy used to be a hustle player, but it's like the injury and the contract took it all out of him. Also team defense... wish the Warriors played more of that.

Bottom line is I don't really care how strong they look, but how strong they play on both ends if they can't really use their speed much or aren't too strong. Slower, bulkier guys have to be more crafty using their body and that requires some solid footwork and feel for where the defender will move when they got their backs to them.

sorry for all the edits. I'm kinda tired. I'm kind of at a loss for words.

So, I guess this picture doesn't help Dunleavy's "manly" image anymore than the way he reacts on the court with a little contact on defense or driving to the hole. At least cross your legs straight rather than like a chick! [IMG]

Look at his WMD's. Must've been training quite hard.

That is the best pic I have seen of Davis. I was a little disappointed with how he looked too. I heard he had worked out but he looked the same to me. He looks good there...
