People have already questioned his health; other than health, can he play defense and pass, and play just enough offense to keep defenses honest? Those are the main questions when I think of Howard. My opinion is that he may be able to do those things well enough for 2-3 more seasons. But as stated, can he stay healthy enough to stay on the floor. For me, it's just too big of a risk to give up what we would to make that trade. I think you have to stand pat at this point unless an absolute no brainer comes along.
We don't know what Houston would want for Howard. I wonder if anyone is going to offer up a top tier star for him. Somehow I doubt it.
He's a free agent, so I highly doubt it. I'm not even sure if he's a max player anymore. I'm laughing because I also read that Terrence Jones wants 15+ million per year.
If you were getting the Orlando Magic Dwight Howard, you'd give up anything for him. But I wouldn't give up anything for this Dwight Howard. He's practically a negative asset considering his attitude issues, FT shooting, and injuries.
I used to really like him in the early days, but he's bounced around so much and hasn't really had any good or positive news associated with him in so long, I just figure on a whole, its just not worth it. If you could get him REALLY cheap - sure, but if we're talking about throwing away cap/FA opps on him, fuggedaboutit.
I'd rather have Whiteside. May not be as much of a threat offensively. But do we really need that from our center? Especially when we have plumlee and Meyers (who seems to be a niche player).
Not that he hasn't had things to bitch about in LA and especially in Houston...but Howard just seems like a cancer at this point.
Well yeah but that's even less realistic than trading for Howard. Why would whiteside choose Portland of all places?
Please god don't let us get Whiteside. He is pretty much Javalle McGee all over again. Whiteside is not a good defender and all he goes for are blocks so you can get him out of position or fake him pretty easily. Dont want a player like that on our team for the price tag he will have.
