Meanwhile, in the Was Jesus A Real Person thread, those who wish for this forum to be 'more open-minded' and 'less vanilla' are bringing up the President Obama birth-certificate spiel again.

    Oh, the irony is delicious.

Thats totally fine IMO. Just clear the main forum for basketball stuff, and leave the trolling threads to the black hole of shit that is OT board here.

I was teasing. Forgot the wink thing.

I haven't read most of the threads, so I can't say with authority that you "deserve" it. Though, when you think about it, "deserve's got nothing to do with it."

bumped b/c I don't feel like deleting 80 posts, and the topic was interesting.

    Interesting article...

ABM defends Nate.....a LOT....in here. That said, as Jaynes points out, it will be an interesting season. And, if the Blazers get a high-end GM, that may very well become McMillan's death knell.

    We shall see....we shall see....

Had this been the thread title from the beginning, the thread would have run about 1 page long. The thread was intended as an insult to Mediocre Man, with a secondary subplot about a Jaynes article.

My last French class was in 1968, so I hope I got that right. Denny was making money off this thread till you changed it. He's hopping mad and wants you to change it back. Says just for that, he's including your free computer as taxable income for the year.

Damn, I forgot you're not in on his uberlevel mod board. Forget what I said.

I'm just a peon. I only have the green font b/c I found a "cheap jersey" post in the Mariners' forum one day and they told me to be a GM and delete it. :)

But I think that Nate's going to leave when he wants to. It may be a resignation b/c he doesn't want to work with the new high-priced GM genius we bring in, but he won't be fired by PA, Miller or anyone else, imo.

(Note to the peon mods: Denny instructed the uberboard that it is of paramount importance that this thread continue. I'll pretend the previous 80 posts doen't exist and carry on.)

It's true that in any company, it's common for a new head guy to want to install his own henchmen for loyalty, so as to not threaten his little ego's fragile hold on power.

In basketball, new GMs usually just wait a year until the normal cycle of changing the coach revolves around. But the Blazers have a marathon man for a coach who at the end of his contract in 2013 will rank 20th in all-time NBA longevity with the same team. Approaching Jerry Sloan godliness in Portland, this ne'er-do-well Nate McMillan is only in his 40s and will no doubt last till he's in his 80s, never winning in the playoffs. This entrenched opposition to any new GM will be a challenge of epic proportion.

So it will take a devious, cunning GM to upend the rock of ages we have at coach. This new Machiavellian GM will probably come from the Pentagon. We need experience in the overthrow of established regimes, and he will need connections to detach McMillan from the needy psyches of 2 million Portlandists. A new ideology will have to be invented, a synthesis of what is being overthrown with the divine model under which we live in the home country, Washington, D.C. We have to get the Portlandist old guard, the ones we let live, into participation in the new system.

This new GM should be able to claim Portland roots, even though he's lived under State Dept. protection in Washington for 30 years, and speak Portlandgese without an accent. He should dress in native garb when he returns and descend from the plane like a god.

I have a long list of candidates, but I think it would be best if we cut to the chase and interview only our Number 1 choice. Henry Kissinger. Think of it. We don't need any George Schultz. Here is my suggested organization chart, reporting to the Vulcans.

    http://www.state.gov/r/pa/ei/rls/dos/436.htm

With steadfast determination, we can obtain our goal and rid the Blazers of this menace.

Oh, Priest on a Pogo stick. Those were jokes by MM and myself. I didn't see his before I posted mine. Some of you are so ridiculously serious, it makes it almost impossible not to be sarcastic at times in the OT forum. Somebody posted a "birth certificate" for Jesus. It was a hanging curveball for anybody not superduper serious about politics, considering all of the talk about Obama's birth certificate.

Re: So, Dwight Jaynes Instantly Has Become Mediocre Man's Best Friend....

I've addressed this a few times but I will explain it again. ODENISGOD was banned not for his opinions but for cruel and rude shit he continued to say about S2 members, their wives and even children. I would change his posts so he was saying that shit about me and my family, I would delete his posts, I would PM him and ask him to stop it. Nothing worked. He had been banned previously before I was ever elected a mod for this exact same behavior. Banning him for acting like that in my opinion did not make this forum more vanilla. I view this forum as a community. People express opinions and others get upset over them. That's normal and expected. Saying someone is an idiot for posting something is an insult and should get edited or deleted but it's not ban worthy IMO. Calling someone's wife a whore and their kids retards multiple times just to provoke a reaction is fucked up. Repeatedly doing that means (again in my opinion) that you don't want to be apart of this community and that you're not here to discuss basketball or the Blazers. I don't see how removing that behavior makes this forum/community worse.

I don't see how posting this to the comment you quoted from makes any sense, but thanks for sharing? I honestly couldn't give a fuck that either Mixum or OIG was banned or even shot. However, in fairness to OIG, a lot of the reason he was such an ass is because people would instantly attack him when he said anything negative about the team

Also, does this mean I need to stop sharing my sexual encounters with MRS HCP in the forum?

Repped! There is a line and it was seriously crossed multiple times. It was like ODENISGOD/ILOVEODEN wanted to get banned and was deliberately breaking the rules and being as abrasive/combative as possible.

I think you are confusing cause and effect.

How many times must it be said: threads like this are useless without pictures.

I was addressing multiple comments you made recently in this thread.

You tell me if you need to stop with the Mrs HCP comments. I've always read them as you joking around with HCP, if you didn't mean it as a harmless/friendly joke then you should probably stop making them.

That's the unexplored topic. When Mediocre Man says something mildly negative, someone jumps on him because he has a reputation. If Mediocre retaliates, someone says he initiated it. Which came first, the chicken or the egg. This is the existential essence of any family argument. You started it. No, you started it. No, you started it.
