<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Smitty:</div><div class="quote_post">Why are they having trouble signing him? I haven't read up on the Eagles much lately.</div> I don't know. They just can't agree on a deal or something. I think there are only 3 1st round draft picks still unsigned, and Bunkley is one of them. I'm getting kind of worried...........
I guess he wants alot of money? Oh well..if he has a bad attitude about this..then he's prolly more trouble than he's worth..reminds me of somebody. Heh.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Smitty:</div><div class="quote_post">I guess he wants alot of money? Oh well..if he has a bad attitude about this..then he's prolly more trouble than he's worth..reminds me of somebody. Heh.</div> Well, from what I heard, his agent wants him to get paid like a top 10 pick or something Not really sure, but apparently the money talks are way off. His agent also refused to let Andy Reid and Jevon Kearse talk to Broderick Bunkley.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The question in the case of Brodrick Bunkley is, how late is too late? Survey says ? real, real soon. The holdout of the Eagles' first-round draft pick enters its 12th day today. That's as long as the one another Florida State defensive tackle, Corey Simon, staged in 2000, after he was the sixth overall choice. No one has held out longer during the Andy Reid Era. The rose-colored-glasses perspective is that Simon, despite missing all that practice time, recorded a sack of Troy Aikman on his very first NFL play, in Dallas. And that he finished the season with 9.5 sacks, still a career high, for a team that went 11-5 and reached the playoffs for the first time under Reid. And it should be further pointed out that Bunkley and the Birds have an extra week to play with this year. That's because the team plays five exhibitions instead of the usual four, the first of those the Hall of Fame Game against Oakland next Sunday in Canton, Ohio. So all that runs in Bunkley's favor. He still can get here, still have the kind of impact on a defense that badly needs his pocket-collapsing capabilities. But if he's not signed by the middle of this week, you wonder. You wonder because he missed three days of rookies-only drills. Because he has missed the first seven days of full-squad workouts, in a string of 12. It is the longest uninterrupted practice stretch of camp. Once they start playing games, things get chopped up. You also wonder about conditioning and timing and whatnot, but you really wonder about whether there will be enough time to get Bunkley up to speed in a defense universally regarded as one of the league's most complex. The architect of that defense, Jim Johnson, doesn't wonder at all, of course. ''He needs to be here,'' the veteran coordinator said last Wednesday. ''It's as simple as that.'' Reid has echoed that sentiment on more than one occasion. And while he expressed optimism Sunday that a deal will get done ''pretty quickly,'' he would not say whether or not he is confident something will happen this week. He did say that he has been unable to speak with Bunkley. And that must please him no end, seeing as he has made repeated attempts to reach him over the phone. ''I've talked to the mailbox quite a bit,'' Reid said last Friday. With the signings Sunday of four first-round picks ? most notably Reggie Bush, who went No. 2 overall to New Orleans ? there remains just four unsigned first-rounders. The only ones taken before Bunkley at No. 14 were defensive back Donte Whitner, who went No. 8 to Buffalo, and quarterback Matt Leinart, who went No. 10 to Arizona. So it seems simple ? the two sides look at the deals given to those taken immediately before Bunkley, and negotiate accordingly. The No. 12 pick, Haloti Ngata, reportedly signed a five-year, $11.9 million contract with the Ravens, with $9.3 million of that guaranteed. The No. 13 pick, Kamerion Wimbley, reportedly signed a six-year, $23.7 million deal with the Browns, with a little more than $9.3 million guaranteed. Two problems, though: Many agents look askance at Wimbley's contract, since he is represented by the same man as Cleveland coach Romeo Crennel. And the Philadelphia Daily News reported last week that Bunkley wants a five-year deal, while the Eagles want to lock him up for six years. Despite all that, something will get done. It's only a matter of time. But it is also becoming a matter of timing. </div> Source
Bunkley Signs! <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Eagles first-round pick Brodrick Bunkley is ready to end a 16-day holdout Friday by agreeing to a six-year, $17.5 million deal that includes $9.775 million in guarantees. Based on playing time, the deal could max out between $25 million and $30 million, but Bunkley can reasonably expect to earn a little less than $3 million annually during his six-year contract. The agreement with Bunkley leaves three unsigned first-rounders: Matt Leinart of the Cardinals, Donte Whitner of the Bills and Jason Allen of the Dolphins. Bunkley's signing could speed up talks to end Allen's holdout in Miami. Bunkley was the 14th pick in the first round. Allen was the 16th pick and could reach a settlement once each side learns the details of the Bunkley agreement. The holdout basically came down to the final year of the contract. The Eagles wanted a sixth year on the contract even though past Eagles contracts have been five-year deals. Normally, mid-first-round picks get five-year deals. Bunkley and the Eagles reached a settlement Friday morning by giving Bunkley escalators in the final year that could escalate his final year salary to between $3 million and possibly as high as the franchise number for defensive tackles that year based on his performance and playing time. </div> Source
Good, now hopefully he'll play well for us. Anyone psyched to see the game Sunday? I know it's preseason..but still..it's the Eagles lol. Plus I wanna see how our rookies do.
The game is going to be on NBC, so I can watch it! Yes! Anyways, I'm most interested in seeing Hank Bassett play. From what I have heard, he has been really impressive in training camp

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Brian Dawkins wants to play his entire career with the Eagles and the team wants Dawkins to stay. And for two more seasons after this one, Dawkins will be where he wants. The Eagles announced on Sunday that Dawkins has agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension, removing any doubt about the star safety's future here. News broke a few weeks ago that the Eagles had approached Dawkins about a contract extension, and Dawkins confirmed that information early in training camp. But the story faded into the background as camp intensified, although the Eagles and Dawkins continued to talk. Here to stay: Dawkins agrees to two-year extension Dawkins continues an impressive run for the Eagles. They've signed offensive guard Shawn Andrews, center Jamaal Jackson and now Dawkins since June. Dawkins was always a priority. He has been a stellar piece of the defensive backfield since 1996 when he joined the team as a second-round draft choice. Here is Dawkins' transcript from a pre-game interview on Sunday evening: On the contract: "It is nice to get this out of the way and it's time to get the season going. I'm looking forward to being here another two years. It's a good thing for me, absolutely, and for the organization." On the importance of signing in Canton, Ohio: "Hopefully, that will be the culmination of my career, when it's all said and done, I'll be here. For me, just to get the deal done is a big thing. Even though this is a special place because of all the greatness here, just getting the deal done is a big thing for me." On remaining in Philadelphia: "It means a lot. I started my career here, I made a great connection with these fans, something that not a lot of players can say. And to make a connection in this city like I have been able to do is not an easy task. I have enjoyed my time here and I'm glad it has not ended yet." On what he still has to accomplish in Philadelphia: "There are a lot of things personally that I want to accomplish, but that big ring on that finger - we still haven't gotten that yet. The place I want to get it is right here in Philly. That's not a clich?, it's not a feel-good story, that's the truth. I want to get it here in Philadelphia before I leave."</div> http://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/homeNews...il.jsp?id=52654
Okay, so Eagles lost. Big deal, it's just a preseason game. Anyways, I can say that I'm pretty impressed with Reno Mahe. He looked pretty good and had one huge run. All cant be said about Bruce Perry. The guy cant hold on to the freaking ball. How many times has he fumbled today?
they say bruce perry has a concussion so i think he alright... i dont even remember what happened when i got a concusion
Yeah, I heard about that too. I turned it off after Timmy Chang's interception because the Eagles were pretty much done. I didn't see it but I saw the replays. I wish him well.......
Eagles Show Interest in Leile, None to Porter <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">In fact, a source said Sunday that the Eagles have no interest in Porter but have discussed trading for Lelie. But Philadelphia is unlikely to give Lelie the contract extension he wants as part of the deal. The issue with Porter is that the Eagles don't want to take on another malcontent after going through last year's problems with Terrell Owens. Porter recently criticized Raiders coach Art Shell and asked to be traded. As for Lelie, the Broncos have asked for upwards of a first-round pick for him, but the source said it's likely Denver will settle for a third-round pick and may ultimately take less. Lelie has been part of speculation in player-for-player deals for the likes of Chicago Bears running back Thomas Jones and Tennessee Titans running back Chris Brown. </div> Source I would love for the Eagles to get Ashley Leile. He is no star reciever, but he gives us another target for McNabb, and gives us more depth in the shallow reciever position. I think we are all quite sure the Eagles wont give up a 1st round pick. I would be happy with: Leile for 4th rounder
Hey guys. I just remembered that the Eagles have a preseason game today against the Browns. I think it already started, but its not on in CA. Tell me what happens if someone watches it.......
