I really love the depth we have on defense. It's been looking flat out nasty and the Howard/Kearse tandem will create problems for opposing QB's this year.

All I have to say is Omar Gaither has a huge future in the league the kid is explosive. If Trotter goes down I have full confidence in Gaither.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Veteran running back Stephen Davis is at the NovaCare Complex on Monday taking a physical for the Eagles, head coach Andy Reid confirmed in his morning press conference.

After the physical, Reid will meet with Davis and the Pro Bowl running back will work out for the Eagles.

Reid said nothing about the current running backs caused an interest in Davis. The Eagles have actually been planning to bring in Davis for a physical and workout since training camp.

"We're going to evaluate him," Reid said. "He's a good running back.

"We had planned to bring him in here during training camp and we'll make sure to evaluate him and see if he's healthy."

Reid also said the Eagles didn't have interest in former San Francisco 49ers running back Kevan Barlow, who was traded to the New York Jets on Sunday.

Davis has played 10 seasons in the NFL for Washington and Carolina and has gained 7,875 yards with 65 rushing touchdowns in his career.

Three times in his career Davis has scored 10 or more touchdowns, including 12 last season with Carolina in only 13 games. With the Panthers in 2005, Davis gained 549 yards on 180 carries.

His season was cut short by a knee injury, however, and Davis underwent microfracture surgery to repair the damage in his right knee. He has reportedly been given a clean bill of health by noted physician Dr. James Andrews.

He is in Philadelphia for a physical and a look-see. PhiladelphiaEagles.com will update the story throughout the day. </div>

Stephen Davis? I would have gladly taken him a couple of years ago, but now? We already have a couple of injury prone backs in Westbrook and Buck. Do we need another? Plus, I dont think Davis has much left in the tank

Something I've been wondering about...Will Todd Pinkston be cut from the final Eagle's roster due to his injury rehab that's not going as well as he anticipated?

No Gaffney is the one struggling to amke the roster the cut is going to come down to Gaffney and Lewis.

I think they're going to cut Lewis..mainly cause Gaffney is starting to get the gist of things so I don't think they'll cut him.

Lewis struggled last season because he isnt a starter. But he has proven he can be a good 3rd or 4th string reciever. The problem is we have so many recievers on the roster; Brown, Baskett, McCants, Avant, Pinkston, Gaffney, and Lewis. I think either Gaffney or Pinkston will be cut

Well we can pretty much count out Ashley Lelie being an Eagle. He got traded to ATL in the 3 team deal.

If Buck stays healthy then our RB situation will be solved. But the big question is IF

Where'd you hear this BKS? Deion Branch held out for more money, so I don't see why the Eagles will go after him.

They said on the football game yesterday. The Pats have given his agent permission to seek a trade. He is talking to Philly, Denver, and Seattle.
