We need it for all of our prisoners! Seriously though, the argument that the US can't apply enough pressure for other countries to stop using oil is insane. We ENABLE the world to use oil. The oil industry would go to hell without us.

The 1st fully hydrogen-powered passenger train service is now running in Germany. The only emissions are steam & condensed water, additionally the train operates with a low level of noise. 5 of the trains started running this week. 9 more will be added in the future to replace 15 diesel trains.
Love it! It takes a lot of electricity to make make hydrogen, but we can make as much clean electricity as we need for these kinds of applications.
Unless there is a breakthrough in hydrogen fuel production, this will continue to be a niche solution as it is super expensive to produce. I would guess that solid state batteries will become a viable mass market solution before hydrogen fuel does, but it is nice that they are giving it a try.
