Coal was dying. Then 2021 happened. The dirtiest fossil fuel is on the rise — and with it, U.S. carbon emissions. https://grist.org/energy/coal-use-w...rbon-emissions-rise/?utm_source=pocket-newtab
California is poised to kill rooftop solar — damaging climate and health. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/poli...ging-climate-and-health/ar-AASN8tT?li=BBnb7Kz
California is correct to reroute the solar rooftop refunds to battery storage - the issue California has is dealing with peak hours and not with total production from Solar. Giving the refunds to battery storage will help eliminate rolling blackouts and reduce suffering during preemptive power shutdown because of weather events. California does not have a power generation problem. It has a grid resiliency issue. Solar is great and California is the #1 in the nation in it because of the initial investment. Moving the investment to battery storage from raw solar generation is the green thing to do - with it California will be able to stop polluting during peak hours where emergency high polluting generation options have to be used. I hate these kinds of click-bait articles that do not actually understand what the issues are and how to optimize resource usage. Shame.
