Notice that I did not say he did. (Reading is fun!) But when Jordan went through his physical for the White Sox, they measured his vertical. They also measured Frank Thomas's. They were the same. Does that mean Jordan couldn't jump higher? Probably not. Who knows if Jordan went all out, or if they kept Thomas's from when he was a rookie and compared it with Jordan's in 1994. Either way, they were reported at the time to be the same, and tied for second in the White Sox.

So I believe what you are saying is that when Shannon Brown goes in for a dunk against us, that he can meet him at the top for the rejection?:devilwink:

I only believe official combine numbers, personally. Team workouts might be under different conditions, and self-reported vertical jumps are all but worthless. It's like asking a guy how big his, er, hands are.

Unfortunately, Williams doesn't seem to have participated (unless my vodka-addled brain is looking right past him).

Armon's 38.5 max vert is pretty good, though... fourth-best result. Nice.

I love how they felt the need to put Seattle in parentheses next to Kemp's name. Lol, you'd have to move the decimal one place to the right forthe Portland phase of his career :D

Definitely, I prefer official results as well.

I'm pretty sure James White jumps higher than Jordan and Mike could never pull off some of his dunks.

This type of discussion is pretty old in some places.

So, Elliot beat DJ Stephens by 2" for highest vert ever recorded by the NBA?

Damn, never heard Elliot Williams recorded a 48" vert.

Was it official? I don't know why they'd report Stephens' vert as a record if it was. I don't see any of Williams' measurements in DraftExpress' database.

Regardless of the measurements though, Williams is a basketball player and Stephens is just a freak of nature physically. I never saw anything from Williams that showed a vert THAT high in a game, whereas Stephens has his vert on full display every game but is more or less only effective if he finds himself in a situation where can impose his physical gifts on his opponent.

He was injured at the time of the combine.

This number came from pre-draft workouts and fall camp.

Still, Stephens didn't even get invited to the combine. His measurement came from a Nets workout. Why would Stephens' 46" then be the record, if both measurements were officially released from team workouts?

Kadour Ziani is the best dunker ever...

The dunk at :43 for a guy 5'10" is almost comical.

What's in the water in Memphis?

And why didn't they give more to Will Barton?

No offense, but have you been under a rock?

there are at least 5 players in this draft alone that are higher than 40.

Hell, Brandon Roy's vert was higher than 40. (by half an inch)

I have a 6 foot friend whose max vert has been officially recorded as 47".

It's odd for a basketball fan to think no one can jump higher than 40".

Bird and Wilkins had insane standing reaches for their position.

Both had the reach of a center.
