The small sample size is true about the number of games he played, in the few games he played he got many minutes and produced very well. The question mark about him isn't about his talent/ability, it's about his injury issues. I never considered Pendergraph to be nearly as talented and I would tell you he didn't have major injuries but I probably never cared enough about him to even remember.
Maybe I will just go all in for my support of E-Will and start promoting him for the Most Improved Player 2014 ...
Portland already renounced him so he is a UFA. You've never heard of an athlete coming fully back from a ruptured Achilles? Believe me it's pretty common for guys to regain their previous abilities. Neither his double knee surgery (which was a preventative move) or his shoulder issue are thought to have any lingering effects. He may indeed be Mr. Glass and may continue to break down, but it shouldn't be because of his previous setbacks. STOMP
Elliot was drafted in the 1st round #22 overall. Of the 10 retired jerseys hanging in the Rose Garden rafters, 5 were drafted later comparing him to JP is pretty silly. Here's hoping EW has shown enough positives in health & work ethic that management has good reason to try to bring him back... quite clearly he's got above average physical ability STOMP
Coach K is loyal to his players to a fault. Without his support, Smith doesn't get drafted in the 1st round. When Williams transfered from Duke, coach K supposedly held the door and offered to carry his luggage. Add that red flag on top of his injury history and you have to wonder.
Your logic is flawed. What would coach K do for Grant Hill or Elton Brand? Also, do you know why he Xferred from Duke? Look it up and you may feel like you put your foot in your mouth. Any coach worth his salt would bend over backwards for a player that was in Elliot's situation.
Here it is here man... http://www.blazersedge.com/2013/4/13/4222768/haynes-blazers-g-elliot-williams-grieves-loss-of-mother-to-cancer
I'm sorry the guy lost his mother, but I guess I am missing something. What does that article have to do with his time at Duke?
It doesn't say in that article but the reason he transferred from Duke to Memphis was to be able to help his Mom who had just been diagnosed with cancer.
You guys mean the Elliot Williams that has only made 24 appearances since 2010? Is that the guy that everyone keeps talking about as like the next DWade type player?
