Who's wrong? You, me, everyone else?Dude, you have no idea of who's right or wrong, and you can't make that statement, cause you COULD be the one that's wrong. If you don't want to debate this fine, it is a stupid debate, as I'vesaid before, this is a perception thing. Brand has been good his whole career, but his teams haven't done jack, Dirk has been a GREAT player over the same span, and his teams have been great...But if you like a post only player, and don't like your bigs to shoot the ball from the outside, fine, that's your decision, but you CAN'T say your right, and everyone else is wrong, when both players are good, and it's all about likes or dislikes.
I never said he was completely wrong and that I was right, I meant that when I make legit points he just doesn't agree and won't give any ground on anything so it's pointless.
Alrite, who did better in Game 1, Dirk or Brand?Dirk was 9-18 from the field, 13-15 from the line, had 31 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, and MANY good laser passes inside.
Dirk's prescence alone makes the mavs more dangerous on offense. The Grizzlies couldn't stop Dallas because Gasol (One of their big shot blockers) was taken out of the defense since he had to go outside to guard Dirk allowing the interior to be exploit by the likes of Stackhouse, Daniels, Dampier and etc. Brand plays inside which means the lane is more clogged offensively and it is easier to help out on defense.
I would much rather have the traditional inside Power Forward who plays great D and gets the job done inside. Just my opinion.
The great defense is getting old. Anyone watching games knows Brand is not super active on defense. He is also undersized at 6'8. Kaman's defense has helped the Clippers over previous Clipper teams. They used to be one of the worse defensive teams. The Clippers are super talented on offense with Cassell, Mobley, Maggette, Kaman, Radmanovic, and Livingston. That team should be the leading scoring if Brand could pass and shoot from outside in case a center has his number like Diop.
What are you talking about? Elton doesnt guard the perim. duh. I watch quite a bit of Clipper games actually. He holds the post very well and he blocks a ton of shots on people trying to go up on him. He is a great post defender. Dirk couldnt defend a banana.
Dirk can't guard the post and Brand can't guard the perimeter. Actually Dirk can guard the post if he doesn't have to guard centers that outweigh him a ton. Dirk can guard most small forwards and power forwards. Dirk is also a good help defender and gets out well on the pick and roll. Something Dampier and Diop are weak at.
Dirk cant guard the perimeter either. Dirk cant guard anything. Besides, big men are supposed to guard the post and Brand does that exceptionally well. Dirk cant guard the post. Thats a joke.Dude Dirk cant play defense. Stop trying to think up excuses and stop typing complete bull <Censored>. Also stop being a homer.Brand>Dirk at defense, lets just get past that.
Dirk is not a joke on defense. Stats prove that. Dirk has led a team farther than Brand is. No one can guard Dirk despite people thinking Marion, Bowen, and Mcgrady can. Dirk owned Bowen last time they played and can own anyone. Like I said Diop has had Brand's number all season. Dirk doesn't need to defend the post and he guards most power forwards well. The list includes Kenyon Martin, Pau Gasol, and most athletic 4's. You don't watch mavs games so you don't know what you're talking about. You are just going by reputation. Also Dirk doesn't want to get into foul trouble so it is better he doesn't guard post players. Not that he can't do it but it would be stupid to cause it might cause foul trouble and tire Dirk on the offense which will hurt Dirk's shot on the offense. Get over on the comment on a way a power forward should play because that is a weak argument. It is better a power forward to play both outside and inside than just inside.
Dirk is a joke on defense. Watching him proves that. Well duh, maybe that is because Dirk has been to the playoffs 6 times. Brand is playing well and the Clippers should advance to round 2. They actually do have a shot at whe WCF though it is probably unlikely. McGrady actually did a very good job on Dirk in the playoffs last year. Dirk is guardable. Oh wow, he owned a guy he was 7 inches taller than. Woop dee doo. If you dont see the advantage there, you are retarded. Dirk is a poor defender, he guards no one well. He looks lost on defense and he doesnt put any effort into it. I have seen Mavs games and Dirk doesnt play good defense. On the other hand, you watch too many Mavs games so you overrate all your players. Most Power Forwards guard post players or perimeter players. Dirk guards no one. You think Dirk could hold up inside? Come on, he would get abbused by guys, LIKE Brand inside. He is way too weak. A power Forward traditionally is suppsoed to play inside, face that. I would much rather have a guy that made high percentage shots inside and made it easier on the guards to hit their shots than a guy that stands by the arc and nails his shots down, but not as effiecientlky as Brand. Dirk could not hold up inside, please.
Yeah, statistically Dirk is a top 20 defender. Don't believe me?Check the Defensive Tendex Ratings. Also, somebody said one game makes such a difference, but let's compare Dirk's postseasons to Elton Brand's postseasons (Brand has only played two seasons less, so it should be around even, anyway)...Bold = better statistic vs. other playerELTON BRAND:2 Games39.5 MPG20 PPG9.5 RPG3.5 BPG0.5 SPG3.5 APG / 2.5 TPG53.3% FG0.00% 3FG61.5% FTSingle Playoff Game / Career Playoff Accomplishments?NoneDIRK NOWITZKI:54 Games42.3 MPG25.2 PPG10.8 RPG1.10 BPG1.01 SPG2.8 APG / 2.0 BPG44.3% FG39.9% 3FG87.3% FTSingle Playoff Game / Career Playoff Accomplishments?11th in Playoff PPG (at least 50 games)27th in Playoff RPG (at least 50 games)92nd in Playoff Total Points94th in Playoff Total Reboundsetc. etc. etc. ...PLUS MY SIGNATURE
No, you guys are stubborn as hell so I'm not going to argue anymore. Who the hell would say Dirk is better than Elton based on their playoff stats?
If you can't play in the playoffs, nobody cares about you. Kind-of like Jason Richardson. He's probably one of the NBA's best, but nobody cares about him because he can't even make the playoffs. As people go, it's where "the stars are born."
