Is it just me or does it seem that Okafor has the potential to be a bust? I mean, he just seems like one of those undersized PFs who can dominate the smaller and weaker college players...he doesnt have an exact go-to move and seems to thrive in the low post exclusively...however the lack of size will prohibit him from being an post powerhouse in tha NBA...he'll need to develop a reliable jumper...i think he'll be a decent NBA player, someone who can make a living off of rebounding and blocking shots and be a nice role player, but I, for some odd reason, have a hard time believing he'll be worthy of a top 5 pick...

That ain't an undersized PF... Just an undersized center: the position he plays in college...He has a good hook-shot and he's certainly worthy of being a top 3 pick...
I simply heard great things about him, a big man with a really great offensive and supporting ability. I was very surprised to hear someone of his size shooting so well. He sounds worthy of being a high ranked pick in my book.
I think the Suns will pull it off with the #1 pick this year. If the Suns do get the first pick, I can see them passing on both Okafor and Howard, and drafting Pavel Podkolzine. They already have Marion and Stoudamire, so they have no necessary need for neither of the two. The Suns have been looking for a decent center for many years now, and if they do get that pick he's the only guy I can see them drafting. If the Hawks pull off the #1 though, I see them taking a chance on Howard.
first off, okafor plays center NOW, even with villanueva in the game, who is an inch taller. second, if ben wallace can be a nba center at 6-9/6-10, then okafor can. third.. i really really dont want to see him go to orlando.. fourth.. i hope you all realize he averages 20+ ppg, 10+ rpg, 5+ bpg, is a fantastic passer, and shoots over 60% from the field. fifth.. i think he'd fit in great w/ the knicks team.. that they have now.. but they won't be in the lottery anymore so.. the clippers would completely waste him. golden state just drafts people and never gets anywhere. chicago already has all their big people, though they aren't too good. portland.. no, they have a developing zach randolph.. and probably retain rasheed or get someone like antawn. atlanta, no.. yipes. i'd rather be on the long beach jam.. and they have ratliff.. yet i don't know how long they plan on keeping him.. he is there defensive presence. phoenix.. w/ barbosa and marion.. amare.. he *could* fit in there, and would look nice.. but i dont know on that one. i think cleveland and orlando have the best chance. i'd rather see him with cleveland.. if they decide to go big in the draft.. also depending on what they do with boozer and ilgauskas.. orlando needs to go big.. miami.. he could fit in.. washington.. yipes. hope he stays far away.. that franchise is a mess and is terrible with draft picks and what they do to/with them!

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Magic Johnson:</div><div class="quote_post"> I was very surprised to hear someone of his size shooting so well. He sounds worthy of being a high ranked pick in my book.</div> I think you misunderstood. He's shooting a high percentage, but he's not really a good "shooter." He scores his buckets in the post and on put backs like most big men do. He's not exactly rasheed wallace or dirk...you know what I mean? His offensive game is about average (in NBA standards), but his defensive tenacity is what makes him a very good player.
exactly, because he's a CENTER. last time i checked, rasheed and dirk were both power forwards. he can score anyway anywhere around the hoop.. obviously he's not going to shoot a 17 foot jumper, he's not arvydas sabonis. 12 and in and he's golden.. let's keep in mind. he's a CENTER.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Dom_Sensei:</div><div class="quote_post">Atlanta will be this year's worst team and may use the 1st pick with Dwight Howard or Emeka Okafor.</div> not every worst team will get first pick in draft just look at Houston when it got Yao, Chicago had the worst record... it all depends on the ping-pong balls
Pitt/Uconn have you seen the kid play yet? if not, watch the following games 1/19 - vs. pittsburgh, in hartford I had the privilege of watching that game. Okafor's performance was ordinary at best. He had a couple more blocks than Taft, but the Pitt freshman held his own and then some.
He is not gonna be as good as he is in the NBA. Here's a name that will look like emeka in the NBA: Eddie Griffin. that's just my opinion.
Personally, I believe that: Okafor will be No1 Howard will be No2 Being a European and watching a lot of European basketball, i can assure you that T. Splitter is not ready for NBA right now...he can't even dominate in Spain (not to mention Euroleague) as he is not a starter in his team. For example, Stojakovic who played 4 years in Greece (where i am from) he was a dominant SF when he decided to come to the NBA... Podkozline is utterly UNKNOWN but he is so enormous he will probably be a high pick. Remember this name: <u>Nemanja Aleksandrov</u>....next best European player...17 years old and HUUUUGE potential (probably biggest prospect Europe has seen after Kukoc)..draft 2005, 2006 or 2007
ben wallace.. but 10 x's more better offensively. comparing okafor to eddie griffin is stupid. i saw him play plenty at seton hall too.
Any team that has the #1 pick would be insane to pass on Okafor. I do however think that Atlanta may select Howard, just for the whole hometown appeal thing...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting AllNet:</div><div class="quote_post">Why would he be like Eddie Griffin? Emeka is the next Ben Wallace Book it</div> I was hoping to be the first to say that, he looks like it to me. Very awesome at defense just like Big Ben, but awesome at offense as well, he seems like TD in the free throw department. I'll think he'll do really well even in his rookie year.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting AllNet:</div><div class="quote_post">Why would he be like Eddie Griffin? Emeka is the next Ben Wallace Book it</div> I'm not saying Okafor is the next Eddie Griffin, because I think Okafor will be good in the league...but did u see Griffin at Seton Hall?? The man was a monster, a "can't miss"...at one point, he was averging 5 blks and 12 rbs a game as a FRESHMAN....but in reality, aint no such thing as "can't miss" when u go to the NBA... My point is that comparing Okafor to Griffin isn't any more far fetched than comparing him to Ben Wallace...
