MVP- Nash... Runners Up: Nowitzki and Billups ROY: Definetly Chris Paul... Runners up: Raymond Felton and Villanueva Most Improved:Boris Diaw Runners up: David West and Mike James DPOY: AK-47 6th Man: Mike Miller Coach Of the Year: Avery Johnson
M.V.P. - Steve Nash will probably repeat. Rookie Of The Year - CP3, no doubt. Most Improved Player - Boris Diaw, he really has improved the most. Defensive Player Of The Year - Hmm.. I'm going with AK-47. 6th Man - Not sure, I would say Maurice Williams, but he's only played 56 games, so I'm going with Mike Miller. Coach Of The Year - Avery Johnson
MVP: KOBE, Dwayne Wade runner up ROY: Chris Paul MIP: Boris Diaw or Mike James or Dwight Howard 6th: Stackhouse, (it should be Zo in terms of impact on a game) COACH: Avery Johnson EXEC OF THE YEAR: the Clippers GM DEFENSIVE PLAYER: Bruce Bowen FINALLY
For those mentioning Dirk for MVP, where do you place Elton Brand? I argue that Brand has had a better year and believe statistics show he's been as good, if not better. Dirk: 26.6ppg, 9rpg, 2.8apg, .7spg, 1bpg Elton: 25ppg, 10rpg, 2.7apg, 1spg, 2.6bpg So basically Dirk scores 2 points more per night, but Elton has more rebounds and averages well over double the blocks. Elton has been just as effective offensively, and is a superior defender yet he won't even get mentioned in MVP voting.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting playmaker15:</div><div class="quote_post"> 6th Man: Caron Butler </div> Butler has started 51 of his 72 games, so isn't even close to being eligible.
MVP - Steve Nash Rookie Of The Year - Chris Paul, no brainer Most Improved Player - Boris Diaw Defensive Player Of The Year - Gerald Wallace or AK47 6th Man - Mike Miller Coach Of The Year - Flip Saunders

Brand has been getting mentioned though, and if the Clips had been on pace for 50+ it would help. Right now they can still get 49 though.
M.V.P - Dirk Nowitzki Rookie Of The Year - Chris Paul Most Improved - Boris Diaw Defensive Player Of The Year - Gerald Wallace (Ben's been too inconsistent for my liking) 6th Man - Speedy Claxton Coach Of The Year - Avery Johnson

It's not just a question of stats, or else Chauncey Billups wouldn't even be mentioned. Dirk has led the Mavericks to the third best record in the NBA, whereas Brand has led the Clippers to a probably sixth seed. Dirk's the perfect compromise for those who want an MVP who has led their team to a great record and those who want an MVP who has consistently filled up the stat sheet. The only other player on his level in terms of both stats and team success is LeBron James. It's more or less a tossup for me to pick between the two. JW, if you consider Brand the MVP, then where would you rate Gasol? Both the Grizzlies and the Clippers have the same record, and their numbers aren't dramatically different. Brand averages a few more points and rebounds, but Gasol's assist numbers are much better (4.6 apg is #2 in the league for big men, only Brad Miller averages more by 0.2; Pau is also #1 in the league for total assists for big men).

I simply raised his name and said he is entitled to be mentioned in the same breath as Dirk Nowitzki. LeBron should be the MVP, and by a margin.
MVP: LeBron James (runner-ups: Steve Nash, Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade) ROY: Chris Paul (runner-ups: Raymond Felton, Charlie Villanueva, Channing Frye) MIP: Boris Diaw (runner-ups: David West, Smush Parker, Mike James) DPOY: Gerald Wallace (runner-ups: Andrei Kirilenko, Bruce Bowen, Andres Nocioni) 6th Man: Mike Miller (runner-ups: Jerry Stackhouse, Maurice Williams, Speedy Claxton) COY: Avery Johnson (runner-ups: Mike D'Antoni, Flip Saunders, Mike Dunleavy)
MVP: no brainer Steve Nash again. Rookie of the Year: Chris Paul Most Improved: Boris Diaw or Dwight Howard, Leaning toward Diaw 6th man: Mike Miller Coach: Mike Dantoni again (Nobody can argue this one) Defensive Player of year: AK-47.

It seemed that's what you were implying. Still, the whole point is that Dirk's a higher rated MVP candidate not because of his stats, but because of his team's success.
Meh, I've only really seen him as a runner-up, nothing wrong with that, he's had a fine season, though there are some guys I'd rank over him.

For me, if you get close to 50 wins you should have that 'team success' vote.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Franchise4Ever:</div><div class="quote_post">Why is everyone choosing Boris Diaw for Most Improved? I think Smush has just as strong an arguement if not more since the offense doesn't flow through Smush as much as through Diaw.......just my 2 cents.... http://www.nba.com/playerfile/boris_diaw/index.html http://www.nba.com/playerfile/smush_parker/index.html</div> Smush has 149 less points, 205 less assists and 288 less rebounds than Diaw, thats why. David West has a stronger case than Smush.

Their style and the Nash factor flatters everyones numbers. Just look at the changes in Diaw, Bell and hell, even Tim Thomas.
