Maybe they just didn’t want Olshey answering questions about Stotts knowing he’s about to be canned, and that’s all everyone would ask him about anyway. I think that’s a more likely scenario than Olshey being fired as well.
ive been digging a bit into the pacers situation after @maxiep hinted at them potentially going after Stotts last night. Pritchard gave nearly an hour long season ending exit interview in which he candidly explained the situation with their coach and the stuff he's evaluating and how he still can't commit to keeping Bjorkren. answering tough questions is part of olshey's job. no reason for him to duck interviews.
My guess is we're going to see long written explanations soon for all this....Olshey must be gone already would be my guess. Or he's wheeling and dealing to keep his job....or he's sleeping with Jody Allen. Who knows......I'm sure we all will soon enough....Dwight Jaynes said there'd be exit interviews today but Casey said nothing was scheduled.....maybe something important came up.
All the offices will be cleaned out. Every piece of paper will have been shredded. All the insignias and signs will be removed. There will be no indication the Blazers were ever there.
If Olshey held a press conference soon and announced that Stotts was gone, he had a new coach that seemed to be a good decision and that he'd executed a trade for KAT... even I would stop wanting him to be fired.
According to Dave Deckard, Exit Interviews are today: https://www.blazersedge.com/2021/6/4/22519127/terry-stotts-portland-trail-blazers-news-head-coach
there are two types of exit interviews. One the coaches/front office have with each player and then the ones everyone has with the media. A probably already happened today. B looks like it’s been nixed.
He wrote that at 10:30am and there is been no mention by anyone since then that they actually occurred. I think, like Quick said in his article from last night, that everyone expected them to happen because that is what normally does happen.
