That's great but his stats were pretty garbage.

So what you're saying is.... "just because a player is a lottery pick doesn't mean that they are going to contribute right away. Sometimes it's just about drafting a player who has the potential to be a star."

    Because that's what I said.

He was actually only 6’9” his rookie year. Wild that he only shot 41% from the field.

Have talent compared to what? This is one of the least talented Blazers rosters since I've followed the team in the late 80s. I'd rank it below 25-28 other NBA franchises.

i hear some fans wondering why Grant didn't make it to the exit interviews. We haven't heard from Portland's star forward since he dropped 49 in the Pistons Moda Center Miracle.

Yeah... I seem to remember this same statement being made only a few short years ago when the Blazers were making the playoffs every year.
Change just for the sake of change might not be in our best interest.

it's amazing to me how sure of themselves some talking heads around here can be when they state talent wins in the nba, but then think a different coach could do more with the same lack of talent. its like, how does one not see the obvious conflict there?

coach is not the issue. Lack of talent or lack of experience in potential talent is the issue.
How about focusing on the coach when its clear he has talent to win?

I just take the "Walk a mile in their shoes" approach. In this case Billups is doing what he has been told to do.

So what is the best case scenario for the blazers regarding the warriors pick? What needs to happen to GSW?

Best case is we get it next year when there is actual talent that could help us become a better team.

So if the warriors make the 8th seed, the pick transfer to next year?

    I heard plenty about Scoot.
Reading between the lines but not that much — (1) Scoot is the starting PG next year, (2) Ant knows it, (3) Sharpe is the starting SG, and (4) Ayton starts at center.

IMHO, if there’s a good deal from a team who wants to win in the playoffs, Grant will be traded by February. Otherwise, he’s one starting forward for the “win games and develop.”

I will be a bit surprised if Ant isn’t traded at or near the draft. Thybulle, too.

The pick is top 4 protected this year, top 1 in 2025, and unprotected in 2026.

So if the warriors make the playoffs, their pick cannot be top 4, so we want GSW to get the 8th seed then

Or we would want them to miss the playoffs and miraculously get the 4th pick so we have a better chance at having it next year.
    Your choice.

I've never noticed a head coach teach and coach his players at every opportunity throughout every game the way Billups does. I love seeing that, because that's exactly what he should be doing.

Why not hope they lose now and then don't win the lottery? That would be a better pick than if they get the 8th seed.

You mean get eliminated and get the 5th pick, right? If that's even statistically possible
