His off court stuff was one of the reasons why I was against adding him. He also is a diva when he doesn't play. But it seems to be working so far. Just hope that Dame et al have created even of a strong culture to allow for his crazy to actually be a positive for the team rather than a distraction. I'm much more concerned about how useless he is at guarding the rim. I knew it was bad, but holy shit, he makes Meyers look like Gobert out there.
I just have this feeling that we're going to reach a point where Nurk gets tired of seeing a lack of defensive effort from Kanter, he's gonna try to talk to him (or call him out) about it, and those two are going to butt heads. Probably just the Blazer pessimist in me, but that's where my head is.
Dont get to watch a lot of games in Bosnia but it looks like Dame is one of the few superstars who is trying to be the mentor for his teammates , to help them develop rather than bitch about lack of talent
And if we bring politics into it. Bosnia is pretty damn close with Turkey/Erdogan. And Kanter/Erdogan don't really see eye to eye. I'm prolly reaching, but that first post game interview where Nurk threw shade at Enes didn't inspire much confidence in those two working out long term.
As a starter, Kanter would be a disaster. As a situational sub/offensive sparkplug off the bench he is valuable. If Stotts would just play he and Zach together, it wouldn't be as big an issue.
True story , but there is a coach or GM or whatever works in the NBA to make them coexist in the team , off the court they dont have to be best friends
