I don't think Duckworth was so valuable to the franchise that his 00 should be off-limits to another (arguably superior) player. I mean, if Meyers wearing Sabas' 11 didn't make the franchise "dead to you", why should Kanter wearing 00 have that effect?
I think this probably means they are waiting until next year to truly throw Collins into the fire. My guess is that Aminu will be gone and Collins can compete for the starting PF spot. It looks like they decided to go for down the stretch instead of worrying about development.
Ripcity4life77, you need to go back and watch the UTA game again where Meyers is excellent in scoring 4 of 5 swish3s, 6 of 7 FG, and earning a remarkable ORtg of 226 while embarassing Rudy Gobert. Meyers has the record 76.7% for shooting in the playoffs (minimum of 10 swish3s made), is among the leaders for 3P%, FG%, TS%, eFG%, and is getting open shots for Dame, CJ, Jake, Seth, Zach, and others. You are just disrespectful in your condemnation of an excellent Blazer.
Love Ed. But there is a huge difference. Kanter is one of the most skilled bigs in the NBA offensively. Yes, in the entire NBA. I feel like people don’t realize this. Sadly, he’s just as bad defensively as he is skilled offensively. He honestly one of the most fascinating players I’ve seen in this era. Especially in the playoffs. Can collapse an entire defense when he has the ball, but can also destroy an entire defense when your opponent has it. For a couple of years in OKC he was literally unguardable. It will be interesting to see if he plays down the stretch at all in close games.
Just maybe having another dependable big man will allow Stotts to play Nurk and Collins together, or at the very least give it a legit sample size. There will be a lot less worry about Nurk and Collins getting in foul trouble now.
It’ll be real interesting to see if Stotts ever pairs Nurk and Kanter. Against teams that don’t have an offensively involved four, it may be worth trying. The mismatches offensively would be so fun and we’d dominate the boards.
