Yeah, this has got alot more serious over the last week. Seriously I hope Enes has bodyguards and someone keeping an eye out, because he has a target on his back no doubt about it. And Kudos to him. MAD respect for putting himself out there like that. He has ALOT to lose. He will likely never see his family again. Pretty sad really.

I watched a documentary about New Zealand basketball and Kanter was in the film a few times interviewed with Adams....seems like a bright, easy going, soft spoken dude with a sense of humor.....seems like a great guy.

Does a great guy pretend to be a part of New Zealand basketball?

Actually, that does sound pretty cool.

I'm not a huge fan of his on the court--if he were cheap, he'd be a nice addition, but not at star prices. His defense would render him unplayable against teams like the Warriors or Rockets or Cavaliers. High caliber offenses that can go small and fast.

I think he'd look a lot different in Stotts system with our roster than with Westbrook being a one man show...he's not a selfish player and you play small ball against small ball lineups anyway...Aminu is a perfect bench small ball PF and cheap

This is the guy Kanter supports.

Gulen’s followers run publicly-funded science and math-focus charter schools in the United States. By our count, they’ve opened 136 charter schools in 28 states, operating on more than $2.1 billion taxpayer dollars since 2010.

But former teachers at those schools have told CBS News there is a scheme by Gulen’s followers in the U.S. to take advantage of the American charter school system and fund Gulen’s movement.

Ersin Konkur was once a follower of Gulen. He worked as a math teacher at schools founded by Gulen supporters in New York and Texas. But he said school officials made a special demand of the Turkish teachers who worked there: a kick-back from their taxpayer-funded salary.

“They’d force you to give some of that money back to them?” CBS News correspondent Margaret Brennan asked.

    “Yes,” Konkur responded.

    “Were you writing checks?”

“They were asking cash. But in my last two years, I paid some of them in check,” Konkur said, adding that he’s paid “maybe a lot more than $20,000” in total to the movement.

I heard two different interviews on the radio last week with Kanter and he sings the praises of Gulen.

That sounds like the dumbest conspiracy ever.

"How will we get money for our cause?"

"I know, let's start a chain of charter schools and make the teachers contribute part of their salary! Everyone knows teachers have lots of disposable income! And schools are very simple to operate, no intrusive oversight from government or parents."

"You are a genius, my friend"

Bring in a bunch of teachers from Turkey who can barely speak english, shake them down for 40% of their salary or they're fired and have to go back to Turkey. The 60% of the salary they get to keep is still more than what they would earn in Turkey. And the best part of it is that it's all paid for by the US government.

    Doesn't sound dumb to me.

And it didn't sound dumb to 60 Minutes.

I'm not saying there isn't a shakedown of immigrant teachers. I'm saying there is a lot more to the school story than just that - the schools weren't formed specifically for that scam.

Turkey accusing Enes Kanter of being part of terror group

ANKARA, Turkey -- Turkish prosecutors are seeking an international arrest warrant for New York Knicks center Enes Kanter, accusing him of membership in a terror organization.

Sabah newspaper says the Istanbul chief prosecutor's office had also prepared an extradition request for the NBA player.

The newspaper says prosecutors are seeking an Interpol "Red Notice" citing Kanter's ties to Fethullah Gulen, who is blamed for a failed coup in 2016, and accusing him of providing financial support to his group. Officials at the prosecutor's office could not be reached for comment.

Kanter reacted to the report in a tweet Wednesday.

Earlier this month, Kanter refused to travel to London for a regular-season NBA game, saying he feared he could be assassinated for his opposition to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Kanter's Turkish passport was revoked in 2017.
