Kanter didn't grow up in Turkey. I believe he grew up in Switzerland. He is probably not too much of a traditionalist ... I guess.
I've been frequenting Blazer forums for going on 20 years. I've seen some really fucking stupid posts and some really fucking horrible trolls. The original post in this thread is one of the biggest flaming pieces of shit I've ever read on the internet. Congratulations @Blazer4ever you are now unquestionably the all-time leader for worst posts. I'm guessing you have no clue how impressive of an accomplishment that is.
This has to be some sort of weird joke. Nobody who has even the slightest eye for basketball would dare make such an ignorant statement. I give this four Pinocchios.
He's a fan in Israel who often times can only see the box score to know what is happening during the game. I would give him a break. And like what often happens is what starts off to be a poor first post turns into an enjoyable thread for the rest of us.
See, I understand that and sometimes I think he gets flamed on pretty hard for just having an unpopular opinion. The one thing Id say is I think if he’s unable to watch games, and only reads the box score, maybe he should try to come off with a little more of hey this is what the stats look like, is that whats really happening? When you make claims like x players good, or x player sucks just from the box score and you didnt see it, it’s going to come off in a way that will provoke people a little. I dont know if English is his first language, I tend to think its not (which is a dangerous assumption), but I think his tone may just be lost in translation if that makes sense. Anyways, I hope he keeps posting and that he’s excited for the end of the season run from the Blazers.
Guys. Kanter probably skims this stuff and sees this thread title. Let's not make him want to leave our team.
I doubt he reads this forum, let alone skims the stuff. And really, the lack of a bird rights is what will make him want to leave the team.
Kanter is a situational big with very distinct strengths and weaknesses, which is exactly what he's proved to be. Still not sure how much value he actually will bring aside from regular season depth. Will depend largely on who we match up with in the playoffs and when, who with and how Terry chooses to use him. So far so good though.
Completely disagree about Kanter's value. We don't have the high end talent to match small ball lineups in the playoffs so why not go all in on being a big bruising physical team like peak Memphis? Both Kanter and Nurk (at least this season) are not liabilities on the free throw line either so you don't have to worry about that in clutch moments. I think we should just play like we did in the 4th quarter of Game 4 against the Pelicans where we just punish teams playing through the bigs. If Nurk and Kanter keep this up then teams are going to have to either play big to match it or start sending a double team which unlocks a whole new set of possibilities.
I'm sorry I called him garbage, that's not a nice way to talk about someone. When I get out of this mental institution and reunite with my lap-top I'll get to see the games and find out why he's a weak defender (right now I'm only going by what I've read from yuyuza). But I do think that Meyers and Zach earned minutes and they deserve them
If both were more consistent, we wouldn't need Enes. Zach ... too many 1-5, 2-7 nights. LM ... had actually progressed a lot. But Enes is just very good at what he does. Couldn't pass on him.
Dude, don't let these Americans scare you off. I think I saw you in the hall today. I'm 3 doors down. That's me screaming right now. Kanter has been dumped by 3 NBA teams, so we'll see whether he maintains his current board reputation. You may wind up saying I told you so.
We all know he weak on defense but his offense is good enough and his rebounding is strong enough to over look it some what.
