Was that Chauncey's fault? Dude has had shitty ass teams both years. Organizational chaos does not equal a bad coach, even if it's the coach that is the one to get fired.

My expectations for the season are entirely based on the roster. Every Stotts season overachieved relative to my expectations. So far every Billups season has underachieved even my gloomy estimations.

Both of Billups's seasons have ended in intentional tanks in order to gain assets to improve the team. I know you're aware of this, but curiously that fact is always omitted from your posts about Chauncey's teams.

Yes, we were doing so well up to that point that they said "whoah! We don't want to embarrass the league! We better start tanking!"

We were actually a good looking team with Winslow in the rotation and assuming Payton would actually play basketball. Because of injuries and Payton, we had to use 3rd stringers in the rotation...that is not a great parameter for what that team could've looked like. Last season was just weird...a whack a mole roster season. The biggest first issue was not having a backup 7 ftr

    True...

And Dame wouldn't have requested a trade to Minnesota. Rudy didn't/doesn't have the pull Dame has.

    That's not my point.

I'm saying that just because someone works in a front office, doesn't mean they're smarter than a fan. Most serious NBA fans would not have made that trade. Of all the teams that maybe could have used Gobert, the TWolves would have been near t he bottom of my list.

Your overall point that someone being in a front office does not automatically makes them smarter than every fan.

And while I'm unsure of the validity that "most serious NBA fans would not have made that trade" claim, I'd also add that most serious NBA fans have no clue what goes on in discussions with ownership, agents, bussiness operations, etc. that also influence moves. Do I have proof that either of those claims are true? No.

I should say I would still make decisions based on what’s best for the team minus trading Dame. If it means we keep pick and Dame isn’t happy sorry, then Dame can then make up his mind if he wants to be traded.

If Dame decides he wants out then he should give list of teams he wants traded to and then team can go out and take best offer. If they traded him to a bad team that would be a huge black eye for the franchise so that isn’t happening.

Listen, I'm not saying that I could be a GM.

I just wish someone would hire me to be the guy you run ideas by and if I think the idea is stupid, you don't do it.

Westbrook to the Lakers? I would have vetoed.... although I enjoyed the Lakers sucking.

Kyrie to the Mavs? I would have vetoed.

Gobert to the Wolves? I would have vetoed.

It's kinda like screenplays..... I don't really have the attention span to sit down and write 120+ pages, but I'm pretty good at reading them and telling you if they're going to be shit. I actually worked in a management firm for a while reading scripts and you wouldn't believe some of the shit they're trying to sell.

I don't believe this. I think it's another one of those NBA myths that don't actually exist.

We have done right by players and where has it gotten us? Superstars aren't banging on our door. The Clippers screwed over Eric Gordon and Kawhi/PG13 still went there. It's a business. Players don't give a shit.

I'm all for keeping Lillard and trading picks, and players to make the team a contender. My concern is the Blazers haven't proven capable of doing that so far and we don't have much time to figure it out (if we're on Lillard's timeline). Are we saying the Blazers org hasn't been trying to build a championship-level team around Lillard this entire time and only now giving it a chance? That is my main concern with keeping Lillard. We would need to mortgage our future in the process and I have little confidence in this front office to pull off something that truly gives us a chance to win it all.

I hope we find a great opportunity to give Lillard a chance to win in Portland! I'm just unsure if the players needed to make that happen will be available for us to trade for.

national media would absolutely rip us apart and I agree probably not effect signing all stars (they aren’t coming here anyways) but say Sharpe explodes into a star it would have to cross his mind that this franchise doesn’t take care of their stars. I also think it’s a horrible way to take care of the best player in franchise history. Trust me I would love nothing more than get best possible return for Dame if he ask out but no way would I do that to him.

I appreciate loyalty it’s so rare

Can you please point to which year/years Stotts was told to tank?

    for Billups its 2/2.

Maybe wait until Chauncey is given the green light to try to won every game of the season before having such a comparison?
