It's the offseason so expect a couple more of these kind of stories. Writers have nothing to write, so we end up seeing stupid stories like this. It's actually pretty entertaining seeing which writer can make himself look like more of an a$$ with this junk. Btw, I use the term "we" in the Nets forum when referring to them and I'm not on the team.
I used to love ESPN in like 7th grade because I didn't know any better and the idea of watching sports 24/7 was awesome to me. Now I hate ESPN with a passion because they are very biased and try so hard to advertise their stuff that it's sickening. The Mobile ESPN graphic when they are talking about rumors, the dragging out of the Kobe and Shaq rivalry, and especially the way they promote certain players and teams. LeBron James is the savior to them while Kobe Bryant is the Antichrist. It's disgusting and they are also part of the reason why the game has changed over the years. All the players want to look good, put up great stats, and end up in the Top 10 Plays rather than doing whatever it takes to win.
I'm not big fan of Kobe, but damn is that Chris pushing it. He's like a dumped girlfriend of Kobe or something.

I used to love watching ESPN, and their shows like Sportscenter and NFL Live, but as I grew older, and wiser, I realized those shows were nothing special. ESPN used to be good IMO, before the whole Kobe case. Ever since I can remember, after the whole rape trial and ect ect, they started to get really biased and lost all their credibility. In the NBA season, you turn on ESPN, and it's Lebron James this Lebron James that. They have a really annoying habit of overplaying issues as to what they really are. They'll take something really small (hence "they" and "we") and blow it up like it's a national crisis. Another thing that ticks me off about ESPN, or BSPN (I guess I'll start using that word) is that their so called "insiders" have no less inside information than us everyday people. A couple of days ago I was watching BSPN, and they had this "insider" come in and comment on Vince Young's contract situation. The so called insider was saying that the Titans were still talking to Vince and were really close to reaching a deal, and right in the middle of his speech, the ESPN ticker, or whatever you call that thing on the bottom, says "Breaking News: Vince Young Signs With the Titans." I was like, wtf? You see the breaking news on the bottom, but the insider was still talking about them negotiating and trying to reach an agreement. Talk about some stupid BS.
Dumbass opinions are better than no opinions at all. I'd kill to get the kind of basketball coverage that you guy's get with ESPN, even if I had to suffer through stupid articles like these every so often.

Props to ESPN for trying to come up with a new, fresh story. I'd rather read this then the same regurgitated information over and over again, since it's the offseason and there's not that much to talk about.
ESPN did their job, so far there has been 29 posts in this thread discussion their article. As long as there is people discussing it, no matter how dumb the article is, people still mention ESPN.
Personally, I don't mind the programs on ESPN. For that matter, I love to watch SportsCenter, ATH, PTI, all those shows. I just don't like the way they praise LeBron, Nash, players like that, and crap on people like Kobe. Everything else, Baseball Tonight, NFL Live, ATH, PTI, Rome Is Burning, I don't mind at all. However...when it comes to the NBA, they seemingly don't know jack.
This guy is known to be a Kobe hater so it's nothing news to me at all. This is a joke and basketball season should starts quick Anyway, they mentioned the USA played with Perto Rico today, Tuesday? I thought the game challenge was on Wednesday, tomorrow here?

Most of them don't know jack (though some are knowledgeable) and make up ways to degrade certain people. Also, to Gators, the article is just stupid to be quite honest, it's the kind of article that leads to boycotting.
i can't say i agree w/ all of what espn does, but i don't agree w/ this stuff that espn is useless. Espn has revolutionized sports and like it or not they provide a ton of information. I don't always agree w/ their columnists but people trying to take away from espn as a whole need to calm down.
The worst one is that Gene guy. He doesn't know two shits (sorry mods) about basketball and all of his articles are negative about Kobe, it really pisses me off.
ESPN centralizes sports news. Can't hate them for that. And now every score and news in the world can be known in the 5 min it takes the crawl to roll through. The bad part is all the programming is geared to those that are not sports fans, figuring sports fans will watch it for the scores and news anyways. It is like the celeb thing or people do dumb things part of the news.

It is entertaining, they just make dubious/sensitive comments about the NFL, etc. , IMO. I still watch the network. I'm not some stylish renegade, although BSPN gets kind of lame... Man I can't get over that article though, there's no excuse for that.
Finally, something Laker fans and I can agree on. Here's my rant I posted earlier today on the Raptors board. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">ESPN sucks, especially if the team you like is a crappy NBA team. If you're a fan of the Yankees, Lakers, Red Sox, Patriots, Heat, Steelers, or you enjoy random "news" updates every 3 minutes on T.O., Barry Bonds, Kobe Bryant, Lance Armstrong, or anyone on the Yankees then you'll probably love ESPN. If I miss a Warrior game and want to see the highlights on sportscenter I have to wait through their annual 5 minute Yankee highlight that they always start sporscenter with, then watch a bunch of other crappy baseball highlights with random stories about how Barry Bonds isn't indicted (why is that news?), or why Tom Brady wants to kick his golden boy image, or a summary of Alex Rodriguez's slump that I've seen everyday for nearly a month now. Then I might get to see an 8 second highlight reel of the Warrior game (none of the highlights are from the Warriors whether they win or lose) followed by the final score. I feel sorry for hockey fans in America who get even crappier coverage, if thats possible.</div> I thought you Laker fans would like it more since you get as much attention from ESPN as any NBA team but alot of it is negative so I can understand why you'd hate it as well.
Negative attention is never good attention. Thats like killing someone for a spot on the front page of the news... Not a good idea.. I dont care for the attention the Lakers get because of all the negative crap. The only good thing I've watched recently about the Lakers is Kobe and the make a wish foundation.

After that, I thought maybe ESPN had stopped going after Kobe. Well, I guess not... ...they instead of we... what the hell...
