But you cant keep it in the pocket cause we wont have it next year.

So you can add an upgrade or do nothing but resign our guys.

Im for adding an upgrade, whether thats by free agent, or using cap space to acquire picks for bad deals (less likely we would get much in terms of comp because of all the other teams that will have cap space this year) that we can use in a trade for an upgrade.

Why wont we have it next year if we dont spend it this year? Im pretty ignorant on the details of this, but we would just be under the cap again and can roll over I thought?

The question was irrelevant and I wasn't calling you any names here.

    But if the shoe fits...

Cjs extension, plumlee extension (if they get done, im sure they will), crabbes new deal, harkless new deal.

I never said you were calling me names.. so the shoe doesn't fit.
Your insistence on using degrading words to describe people is a knock against the Blazers fandom as a whole. No reason for it other than to boost your own ego...

But that is going to happen regardless right? Spend the money on them or spend it on someone else? So we dont LOSE the money, its just about where we spend it.

No. Crabbes cap hold is like a million dollars. He will likely command 10 million plus. So we could theoretically sign a 9 million player if we can get them to agree before we take care of signing crabbe.

Harkless had a smaller cap hold then he will demand too.

This is the year we have to spend. We cant wait until next year.

Wait. Allen Crabbe? Isn't he coming off a rookie contract right now? $10MM+ sounds WAY too high, unless I'm missing something?

The salary cap is going way up this year. 10 million a year will be his floor with all the teams having cap space available.

You aren't in love with the status quo? You want to replace someone we already have? Then name your replacement. There is nobody better than who we have.

(That's what you have said many times over the years when anyone wants to replace a player, coach, trainer, waterboy, etc.)

I say let CJ and Plumlee hit RFA so that we can sign other guys first.

If Crabbe costs $12+ and Harkless costs $8M+, let them go.

You dont let young talent go. Harkless is worth 8 million a year with the new cap. Aminu is being paid 7.5 and its thought of as a bargain now, so why isnt harkless worth 8?

And i dont see them not trying to lock in cj now.

Because we can't have six 6th to 8th guys at $8M-$10M a piece. Sure, individually they might be a bargain, but if you spent you whole cap on guys like this, you're not gonna be good.

    They'd match anything CJ got...

I agree that you dont want a ton of 8-12 million dollar guys on our bench. But you dont just let them walk away. Kevin durant is not walking through that door. You resign your young talent, let them continue to grow, and try to put a package together for a star needing a change.

And that would go over real well. Hey cj, go ahead and sign another offer with another team and we will match. No ill will.

Yeah right. Dude is gonna feel slighted if we dont try to extend him and give him that security now after the season he had.

Plumlee i could see us doing that. Maybe.

. "Hey CJ, were gonna give you a max contact, but why don't we wait till were able to go sign a good player to help us go compete for a ring?" . That wouldn't be a bad thing

So dude blows out his knee playing his ass off for us next year with no security of a long term deal?

We extended dame as soon as we could. Cj deserves the same.

The more i think about it, the more i think Whiteside will be the best choice this summer.

When we meet OKC we see Adams is having great games, Bogut\Ezeli\Green are demolishing us in the paint when we play GS and of course DeAndre Jordan is the biggest boy on the court when we play the Clippers.

Plumlee is a really nice center for today's NBA, but when you already play 2 point guards at the same time, do you really need to sacrifice your interior defense and rebounding in order to gain a soft Center who will act as your 3rd point guard?

I know it looks like a gamble, but i think Hassan will really balance our team out.

Whiteside would be a decent consolation to not getting boogie. I think that it would be the same type of situation as what would happen with boogie, Dame would light a fire under his ass and things would really make a jump in a good direction. I mean, look at the jumps players on our team that everyone practically wrote off made. If someone with some serious talent came it could be quite the thing to see.
