    Oakland? I thought the criticism of Joe was that he didn’t kneel at the alter of Bill James. That wasn’t going to work.

    ^^^Tote, that's exactly why I never understood why Girardi was labeled with the moniker "Binder Joe". The fact is that Joe did not use "the binder" as often as a lot of managers do. I understand the value of analytics/sabermetrics as being tools that a manager can use but they don't factor in everything. A big part of the friction between Girardi and Cashman was that Cashman did not think Joe relied on advanced stats enough to make on the field decisions.

    ...I found this in an article and I think it sums it up very well;

    "As the Yankees rely more and more on analytics, Girardi said: “I believe numbers tell a story. But numbers tell the exact story every day. They tell the same story every time. Sometimes, you have to make adjustments.’’ "

    It could not have been that challenging! Cashman could never make such a decision on his own!

    I think Brad Ausmas is a good Manager, wouldn't mind having on board.

    Since I don't think Yanks making any major moves outside of Otani there is no pressure for cashman to make a quick hire so this could drag out close to christmas. He knows this hire has to be a good one since he just fired a guy who averaged 90 wins a year plus a championship in the last 10 years.

    I lost a good friend last year, who was a life long Tiger's season ticket holder. He and his buddies, could not stand Ausumus. I can see why, the guy looks like the deer in the dark night headlights.....

    anyone but Ausumus....

    What a great quote, and dead on correct.

    The stats also tell you what you want to hear, definitely contribute to confirmation bias. Stats don't tell you when I guy has a nagging injury, or is feeling under the weather. Or if a player has a particular issue with seeing a certain pitcher or playing in a different park. Just too many variables that the metrics can't factor in.

    Every time Girardi takes a dump he releases more Baseball Savy than Cashman could ever hope to have.
