http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/9680298/2013-nba-player-rankings-401-500 And here we go....... #500 Royce White #467 Shav Randolph #462 Lamar Odom
I'd agree with you, but I have no idea who either of those players are. Sent from HCPs Baller-Ass iPhone 5...FAMS!
Small sample size. We still need to see where Kris Humphries checks in. I'm guessing his stock will be down, too. Last year his minutes and production were both down substantially from the previous year. BNM
Up from #460 last year! Another couple years of this type of improvement and he might make a decent 12th man (#360). BNM
25 spots higher than the earlier picked Crabbe. I still think Withey would've been more useful to us this season than Meyers Leonard.
Doesn't matter. The ENTIRE reason NOP wanted Withey was that as a 2nd round draft pick he had ZERO cap hold. Meyers Leonard would have counted as $2,126,520 against their cap and would have prevented them from signing Tyreke Evans which was the WHOLE point of them trading us Robin Lopez for table scraps. BNM
If it doesn't matter to you then don't reply. It matters to me how the team I root for maximizes the value of their assets and reaching for a project center with a lottery pick could end up being a mistake. If I want to compare Leonard and Withey throughout the season I'm free to do so. The Blazers could've easily constructed a trade that NOP would agree to while keeping the rights to a crappy second round draft pick like Withey. Withey was a throw in just like the other dozen second round picks the team has packaged in or out of trades the last few years. Did the Blazers sell the asset of Withey when it was over valued, correctly valued, or undervalued? Did the Blazers buy the asset of Meyers at a price that was over valued, correctly valued or undervalued? That is what I'm interested in and every month we get a tiny bit of that answer. If I trade an old beater Chevy and $20k for a new Honda the next month I can still review if I got good value for the Chevy. I don't need some smart ass telling me I'd be riding the bus if I sold the car.
You think Withey will translate to the NBA right away huh? Man I don't know. I am excited though to see what Meyers can throw down in a well rounded second unit with a year under his belt.
It's not that I'm high on Withey, its that I think the biggest role missing for the Blazers off the bench is an interior defender. I don't think Meyers has any chance of filling that role, he is basically Matt Bonner with more upside. A player with Withey skillset and 4 years of college had a real opportunity to provide 10 mpg of defensive contributions. This roster has players with offensive skills and you don't always need 5 of those on the court. If we need an interior presence off the bench do we turn to the terrible Joel Freeland or playing Thomas Robinson as an undersized center?
