Yeah this is BS because advanced status don't win games. Advanced stats doesnt cover all the little factors that go into winning or losing a game. RPM can't cover factors like teams winning/losing close games due to the way their teams built.

RPM also can't cover internal improvement that should be expected from a young team.

It's literally typical ESPN bullshit where they try and push advanced stats onto the public.

So essentially they are predicting our win total next season based our players' performances last season? If so, that doesn't account for player development/improvement, which I think will occur. Nor does it account for chemistry and fit, which I believe Evan Turner will provide. In both cases, I expect improvement.

If my above assumptions are correct, I think they are undervaluing and underestimating the Blazers, again.

What a fucking joke. Blazers will surpass 50 wins this season...57 wins to be exact...the Jazz, rockets, and thunder will all be lucky to reach 40

Lol, 7th in the West for the team that finished 5th last year and was the youngest team that made the playoffs. Wow, that was quick. We went from young and unproven to over the hill in 3 months.

Someone please post this on EVERY bulletin board at the practice facility and tape a hard copy to the front of every players locker at the Mods Center. I want to see how our guys react to being overlooked, taken lightly and disrespected AGAIN.

This is good stuff. Thanks ESPN for adding more fuel to the fire.

Serious question: What did RPM predict last year for us?

Not sure about wins, but based on positions.....
    jazz are too high
    Clips should be 3
    Rockets are too high
    Denver is too high
    Memphis is too low
    Portland should be 5th

of course injuries always screw the predictions up

I agree with all of this, but I would put Portland 4th after Warriors, Spurs, and Clips. After that I would put OKC, Memphis, Dallas, then Jazz/Houston in a dead heat for the 8th seed.

And I honestly hate putting the Mavs as the 7th seed and really don't like their roster going forward, but they have enough veteran pieces to stick around as a 7th or 8th seed. They are treading water at this point.

In the other hand, I think Portland and Clippers battle down to the wire for the 3rd and 4th seeds.

We are going to be #2 in the west. If we play like we did in the second half of last season and in the playoffs, we are contending this year. Right it down, take a picture, I don't give a fuuucckkk!

which is 5 lower than we actual got.

My New Stat: Real, Real Plus Minus.
RPM picks young, emerging teams about 5 wins too low, so the Blazers RRPM = RPM + 5, which matches last season.

So the Blazers RRPM is 49 wins, which according to ESPN will be 3rd in the West. I can live with that!

Also, Memphis if they're even relatively healthy, should be ranked much higher

Funny how you all underestimated Blazers last year and now think ESPN is doing it.

Granted, ESPN underestimated us last year, and many of us said so (they were predicting 20ish wins, I was saying 35..)
