An amazing game just finished. Slovenia v Latvia 103-97. Absolutely amazing game. 26 pts/6 rebs and 8 asts for Dragic 27 points and 9 rebounds for Doncic who will be a huge huge player in a few years. Porzingis score 34 with 6 rebs. Bertans scored 23 with 6 threes.
Writeup here. Reminder: Doncic is still 18. He's also around 6'7" and out-rebounded Porzingis. (Slovenia has a ringer: apparently ex-Warrior Anthony Randolph is Slovenian.)
I have never seen such a mature basketball player at the age of 18 as Doncic. He understands the game like a 30 year old guy and it has been like that for a year now. He could even do it at the age of 17.
Oh boy. Slovenia destroyed Spain and they are in the final for the first time. Doncic has 11 pts/12 rebs/8 asts and not turnovers! The guy is a cheat!
I said that Spain were the Warriors of Eurobasket - I guess this is 2016, though. Kudos to Slovenia - it wasn't close. Spain were without Rudy and Sergio Llull, but Slovenia were without Beno Udrih, Zoran Dragic and Bostjan Nachbar. The legend of Luka Doncic is born!
Batum waits until he's no longer a Blazer to dedicate himself fully to 1 team and NOT play Eurobasket...
You mean the team that COMMITTED TO HIM and paid him a fucking fortune? Imagine that. Actually, I think it has more to do with getting old and having various aches and pains.
Talking of Nic, for some reason I was watching a highlight reel of Cody Zeller dunks (internet rabbit hole) and couldn't help noticing how many were on pick and rolls run by Batum:
It's going to be an all-ex-Yugoslavia final, because Serbia beat Russia (AKA: the -ics beat the -ovs). Shved went down gunning and will be the leading scorer for Eurobasket, but Boban and Bogdan were too much. However, Serbia lost a key player as their PG Stefan Jovic (who was leading Eurobasket in steals, and intrigues me, because he's a 6'6" PG) "limped off". So Slovenia, a country of 2 Million people, should be favorite.
