Imagine Steph and Dame on Olympic Team shooting Free throws from half court.

I am having a flashback to Magic stealing Clydes MVP with a late meaningless run at the end.

He stole it with his comeback from HIV. It was a sympathy vote, nothing less. Clyde deserved the MVP.

somebody who watches these things every year, help me out. I can't remember exactly when the last time was I watched a dunk contest....maybe Griffin jumping over a car, but there sure seemed to be more dynamic dunks 15 years ago. More elaborate too. Maybe time & bad memory has made things back then seem better

The years that Aaron Gordon got robbed were one of the few years I was truly blown away by a dunk contest. That and what Vince Carter did.

It seems bigger when bigger names are in it.

Plus, this years was rushed. 9 total dunks, for 3 total players. Granted, they didn't have the time to do a normal contest.

However, I really liked the idea of having the events be the same day as the game, and the dunk contest being at half. rather that than a lame ass concert.

So this was probably mentioned earlier but first Marv gave credit to Steph for Dames actual half court pull up jumper and then Steph heaves a leaning one from a step further in and Reggie Miller says, "Anything you can do I can do better..." What the fuck?!? Dame did it first and did it better. Yeah it was something to see, two guys hitting shots that deep back to back but whose shot was better and first wasn't even in question. But hey, I guess you've got to keep the Steph is God myth going.

The NBA should turn the dunk contest into a lob contest in my opinion. Get creative with two players pairing up as a team.

I noticed that too, and it annoyed me. It's not like Dame and Steph look a like or shoot similar or even have the same skin tone. Hell, Damian has tons of tattoos and is stockier than Steph.

But, in his defense, Marv is like 100 years old, and I'm not sure they were actually at the game.

Reggie and CWebb didn't even correct Marv and say that it was Dame. They just waited until Steph hit his to even acknowledge that Dame had just done it. Dame's name wasn't said until Reggie finished, "Anything you can do I can do better, Mr. Lillard." Dame made the sickest shot in the history of the game a casual pull up from the half court line that hit nothing but the bottom of the net and all we hear is Marv say the wrong name and Webber say, "See what you did Reg?" Some bullshit but maybe I'm just sensitive because he's our guy.

They can have a teammate throw a lob right now. If that's going to be the best dunk then that'll do. I think the NBA should go back to having a bigger field and do something that incentivizes they're biggest stars to participate. I don't care how they do it but Zion should be in it. LeBron should have been in it at some point. If the most athletic, biggest stars were doing their best out there, it would still be extremely entertaining. Hell Ant was entertaining tonight... can you imagine what a freak like Zion might have done?

It was ridiculous. As CC said, they didn't even show a replay of that shot which was completely behind the half court line and not some random heave.

I also heard Marv say that Gianis missed his first shot of the night....then quite the big deal began to be made about him not missing all game...?

did anyone hear the same? I’m thinking of watching the game again to check. If he had not been perfect, might Dame be the MVP?

    Oh I heard that too.

I still think Dame's heroics came too late. He needed to have a serious run of points no later than the 3rd quarter.
