but Patty C is lighting up every game...the dude is balling out this season...guy has a motor and can leap out of the gym
I was arguing with someone that this forum did not appreciate aminu the other day, and would ya look at that: 21 votes for Meyers 15 votes for LAYMAN and only THREE votes for Aminu (counting mine)
I loved Chief. Yes he’s was grossly underrated and the best of the players we gave up, and better than Hood (in terms of points contributed to winning on the Blazers). But I didn’t vote for him here simply because of the teams everyone went to.
That's a small sample. Aminu was good in previous playoffs. Highlighted numbers are great so he had one bad playoffs.
I'm glad he was great all those years we got swept in the first round When we got to the WCF he was unplayable. Hood is way better. Also Aminu's defense is overrated, he's good at it but not elite.
Aminu is a defensive specialist. You’d think you’d know that. He’s leading the league in defensive efficiency. meanwhile Meyers Leonard has 7 ppg, a whopping 2ppg more than Aminu, and you’re drinking his jock strap juice.
“when did aminu do good in the playoffs?!? Hurrr” “uh... every year except last year. Look at these stats.” “those don’t count!” turns out leading the league in defensive efficiency is a bit more significant than Meyers and Layman averaging a combined 17 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists per game.
It wasn't Aminu's fault we got swept in the first round. Team just wasn't good enough. Having a bad year in the playoffs doesn't mean Aminu was unplayable. He wasn't he unplayable in prior years. I don't say he's an elite defender, but he is a good to very good defender. Aminu's carrier offensive playoff numbers are better than Hood's and way better if you factor in possessions gained by offensive rebounds & steals, even accounting for turnovers. Hopefully Hood's last playoff is indicative of how he will do in future playoffs as a Blazers.
Do you know who led the league in defensive rating last year? None other than current Portland Trail Blazer: Hassan Whiteside.
It definitely wasnt all Aminu’s fault, but the story of the past Blazers teams is literally get the ball out of Dame’s hands and dare the rest of the team sometimes including CJ to beat you, and they kept coming up short. Even Aminu’s really good series against NO wasnt enough to win a single game of that series. The Blazers took the approach they had to get Dame some offensive help that others teams would respect them, because the strategy of leave Aminu and Moe wide open was working. Ive always contended that they’re both useful players, but that together they werent a good pairing, I just dont think you can start two forwards that if you get a combined 20 from them thats a good night for you. Now you can point at coaching, and distributions of shots and the like but IMO your forwards as a group just have to be better to compete with the best teams in the playoffs.
Layman gets FIVE whole points more than Aminu per game, while playing 5 more minutes. meanwhile Aminu is leading the league in defensive efficiency.
By what metric? DRTG? Because he doesnt. And since you value Pee 100 ratings so much, Aminu's ORTG (93) is 11 points less than his DRTG (104).
He's not a particularly recent ex-Blazer, but I've noticed that Will Barton is having a great season. I loved it when we drafted him (of all the Olshey draft picks, he was the one that excited me most) but I came to believe that he was too out-of-control to be a contributor. But he's proving me wrong - way to go, Will-the-Thrill.
