It was bizarre. Can't recall ever seeing anything like it. Like I just said, Dallas beat the Heat with Attitude. The Heat "knew" they were beaten and conceded the game when they could have made an attempt at a desperation come back.
Pretty scathing article from Joe Posnanski (perhaps the best sports columnist in the US, IMO): http://joeposnanski.si.com/2011/06/13/feeling-the-heat/
Seriously, WTF?! That's a lame excuse in January... in an elimination game, it's ridiculous... in GAME 6 of the FINALS?! WITH YOUR BACKS AGAINST THE WALL??!! WHAT THE FUCK!
I'm having a hard time seeing Jordan, Bird or Magic utter those lines about an NBA Finals (final) game.
I don't think Bosh was making an excuse. I think he was giving credit to the Mavs for their superior competitive fire, while at the same time indicting his own team's lack of gnads. At least if he wasn't, he should have been.
You probably don't belong in a competitive sport if that's your big takeaway from a Finals game that lost you the championship. Everybody at the top level of any sport, in potentially the final game of the sport's championship, should want it the most. Saying you didn't want it enough masks the truth: you weren't good enough. And lord, if you're telling the truth?! Get the fuck out of the sport if you're wasting time and earning cash. You're loitering. The 1990 and 1992 Blazers wanted it 100%. They wanted it as bad as Detroit and as bad as Chicago. They weren't good enough to win, but I took solace in knowing they played their hearts out... the losses sucked, but they tried. If I was a pre-Bron Miami fan, I'd be disgusted at the implication that their drive wasn't sufficient enough to motivate their superior talent.
That's the best!! I say FUCK LEBRON, fuck the heat!! Assholes like them don't deserve any respect. . . in the real world.
Purposely stayed away from this thread and the whole,"Fuck Miami" thing going on. I am a straight up basketball junkie...... always have been. Have had the NBA LeaguePass for the past 5 years. Will watch a Bobcat v Clipper game as soon as I'd watch a Laker v Magic game. I don't really understand all the hate. The way LeBron handled the free agent situation last year was wrong, that said, he will finish his career if not the all-time leading scorer, but maybe one of the best to have play the game. Plain and simple, he is one of the greatest ever! I always find the "Best Ever" lists interesting. It all depends on how you judge greatness. I myself do not think individual stats ('Nique, Ice Man) mean much....... as well as NBA rings won(JR Rider, Adam Morrison). It has to be a combination of the 2. I believe the hate on him is more geared towards his attitude and FU personality, but if you consider yourself knowledgable about the game of basketball you can't question his talent. Somebody on here said this will make the Heat better in the long run, that is the straight truth. The Heat will probably win 70 games next season and win the title with ease. Never been a kick the guy while he is down kind of person.
I dont think anybody's arguing that he's not good. But, he might be the biggest primadonna the game has seen and he mind fucks himself in clutch situations. For that, he will forever be a goat, unless his team wins a ring, I mean more than 1. The way the media has pumped this guy for years and as much as he helps build up the hype of himself by counting how many rings he's going get before he ever plays for the Heat. All the sayings are apropos when it comes to Lebron, but my favorite is, "dont throw stones if you live in a glass house". Ultimately, he's made his own bed, now he has to sleep in it. Is he a great talent? Yes. But, he deserves all the shit he's getting.
I agree with this. I think people are trying to read too much into this, that he's proven conclusively that he'll never win titles, but I don't think he's being criticized unjustly. He made himself the cocky villain and people cheer when the cocky villain loses.
