I know it wasn't directed at me, but I took it to mean anybody we elected COULD have done this and almost certainly nobody else would have instituted protections to prevent the possibility of this. It was almost certainly going to happen eventually if we didn't make serious changes. And as much as I wanted and advocated for those changes I can't honestly say I saw any movement toward a mechanism to make changes which would prevent this eventuality. That's not to say I was for "burning it down" as we're seeing now. I wanted (and voted) to avoid this at all costs.
