Anyone drive up to Washington to get stoned? Can you buy it in stores now? What is the scene up there now that it is legal?
If its like that then it's a terrible idea, IMO. There are people that grow their weed organically and that type of legalization would ruin the quality of the product. Look no further than tobacco. Did you know that tobacco is actually patented by the United States? That means its illegal for you or I to even grow it for personal use. It becomes a taxed, chemical filled government subsidy.
The gist I get from people I have spoken with (maybe 8 or so) is that many are now sorry they voted for the law. Mostly it has to do with the smoke and easier access for minor children. People don't want to sit at a bus stop while people next to them are smoking weed and blowing smoke on them- just like cig smoke.
You talked to people who were against legalizing it all along. Those objections are all hypothetical, because nobody is smoking it in public.
So at this point you can't walk into a store in Washington and buy Marijuana . . like you can do with sudafed.
I thought it was illegal to smoke in public anyways. Being annoyed at someone blowing it on them would be the same as being annoyed if someone was burping up beer next to me they were drinking at the bus stop.
Well it's not really quite the same. Cause when you burp up beer, the smell could be awful; it won't force your neighbor to inhale alcohol. But when you blow smoke, the neighbor could inhale THC, forcing them to smoke what you smoke. Glad you said it isn't allowed in public. That would be weird!
I know, poor analogy. Was mainly saying, pretty sure you can't just wander around getting high. So if someone is smoking at a bus stop, they're still breaking the law, same as if they were drinking beer at the bus stop. Or, as it now is in portland, smoking a cigarette at the bus stop.

But I agree that once it becomes fully legalized, it's going to become more and more processed, just like cigarettes.
If it were ever to become that way, I'd see it being much more like beer than tobacco. There'd be your bigger "companies" pumping out some mediocre grade pot to get you high, but it sucks. Miller, Budweiser. And you'd still have plenty of ability to get your blueberry flavors, your pineapple flavors, etc. Much like you can get a variety of microbrews. Who knows, though. That's probably 15, 20 years down the road.
Yeah, you're probably right. Although even with cigarettes you have the biggies, American Spirits (cotton filters at least) and then tobacco you can buy by the ounce from specialty shops.
People that are still "scared" from propaganda like this sign are pretty clueless...fact is it is safer than alcohol by far and even the biggest idiot should be able to see that The problem will always be that there are certain interests who have alot invested in keeping it illegal, and absent of common sense, they resort to scare tactics to push their agenda
Have you been to Pioneer Square, Capitol Hill, or Pike Place Market lately? People are literally smoking pot on the sidewalk, and the cops there have more important things to worry about than what amounts to an MIP to kids or a ticket to some homeless person.
