Understandable. He's easily my favorite guy from those early 90's squads (looking back, that is--at the time it was Terry, but views evolve).

    RIP Jerome.

Petrie, was an inefficient volume scorer on some really bad teams (we're talking 18 to 21 wins). He played in the era before the 3-point shot, but even his 2FG% wasn't that impressive. He scored a lot because he shot a lot. He only lasted 6 years the NBA and never played on a winning team or made the post season.

C.J. is a MUCH better shooter and an absolute steal at $2. Hell, I'd still take C.J. over Petrie even if their salaries were reversed. Even if you ignore C.J.'s elite 3-point shooting (which you can't in today's NBA), he has a far better career 2FG% (.481) than Petrie (.455) and is a far better FT shooter (.844 vs. .805). C.J.'s 23.0 ppg on 18.0 FGA as the 2nd option on a playoff team is far more impressive to me than Petrie's 24.9 ppg on 22.8 FGA as the first option on a 21-win team.

Would it be breaking the rules too much if Pip was at PG?

It would be breaking the rules explicitly, since the post said you couldn't move guys.

Which makes little sense especially today, since postionless basketball is more and more of a thing.

Yet, the author moved Brian Grant to center - a position he never actually played in Portland.

In fairness, many of the 14 games he started in 2000 were basically in place of Sabas. But yes, your point is valid that he was primarily a PF.

I don't get why anyone would choose a PF over Buck at a buck.

That's the biggest steal of all.

Ha. I thought Pippen at a buck was the biggest steal. I realize he wasn't Chicago Pippen, but he was still damned good.

Of course, I'm a pretty big Pippen homer, so there's that.

Yes, Pippen was underrated as a Blazer.
