proof the nba is run by incompetence, fast breaks being worth 3 points is preposterous. i still don't know why they brought in zone defenses for a league that was experiencing a talent transition to more of a young player who can't hit consistently from the outside but who can play stellar defense. on a sidenote, stu jackson and russ granik should be excommunicated from the nba community for being morons.listen to these two fools talk they don?t know anything about basketball. And david stern is just a salesmen.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Rudeezy:</div><div class="quote_post">Yes I know what a fast break is but there could be a lot of different interpertations of it. Why is that hard for you to understand?</div> Why is it so hard for you to understand that referees are already held with the responsibility of deciding what a fast break is or not. Why do you think there is the "clear path foul" rule. A player is on a fast break, an obvious scoring opportunity, and get fouled by an opposing player to purposely stop the break. So like I said, refs already have the responsibilty of making the distinction between what is and isn't a fastbreak. Like I said, if they chose to implement this rule (which I already said I don't think they will, and it is a dumb concept) then I will have faith in the refs deciding what is and isn't a fast break. Will there be questionable calls? Yes, but since when have refs been perfect in any game.
Why would they even considering implementing such a preposterous rule? I guarantee that if this rule ever comes into effect, teh NBA will instantly alienate a majority of its fanbase because it would just be a stupid attempt to get higher scoring games. The league has already messed up by trying to alter the natural evolution of the NBA game by making new rules like allowing zone defense and the arc under the basket (to draw charges), and those rules certainly haven't really helped the game at all. In fact, I think they should get rid of the zone and leave the game as it is. Forget the smaller courts, forget the longer clocks, forget 3 point fastbreaks. Let the game take us wherever it will and stop trying to alter its course. If the game IS evolving into 70-point defensive battles, 1) It's the League's fault in the first place for overexpansion and watered-down teams, in addition to bad rule changes, and 2) Who's to say that it's a bad thing?
This rule will never surface to anything more than just another rumor. If they want to increase scoring (or perhaps increase the amount of last second low percentage shots ) they should lower the shot clock from 24 seconds to 20 seconds.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Rudeezy:</div><div class="quote_post">Yea, because it would be that easy sunsfan.</div> Great post. Hall of Fame quality right there.
judging it shouldn't be the problem. Think of the perimeter fouling (barbosa )and people playing the passing lanes instead of their man looking for a steal. Kinda make penetrating guards a little stronger?
I would hate this rule too. It would be so akward seeing 3 pts for an easy layup. Really it's just up to the players working on their game very hard if they wanna increase the scoring. + defense is preached first on just about on every team it's like alot of teams forget how to play offense.
It be a boring game of just trying to make quick mindless transitions. Where did you even hear about such bullsh1t?
I dont like it, i think its a bad idea and i think its dumb to do that. It might ruin the game and it will take the competition and the excitement from the game winning three's, cmon to win or tie a game from a fast break doesnt seem right, especially if a fast break point that is worth 3points.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">That would be ridiculous and what would be the point of that? What would be considered a fast break? Where would they draw the line? </div> Of course they have some kind of indicator of what a fastbreak is, i mean in game stats they DO have fastbreak points don't they? Exactly. But if this is true that sounds very weird, and kinda stupid. I know J-Kidd will be all happy then, lol.
This is horrible. This automatically DESTROYS teams that play in a half court set. Detroit would have not won the championsihp. Its horrible. So you punish teams for executing plays?? Horrible. NBA players would boycott if this happened.
Yeah thats a ridiculous idea...you're taking away all the effect of a 3-point shot...if a fast-break layup/basket is worth 3 points, what are u gonna make the 3-pointer? Worth 4? Its too absurd to even think about...
Thats a stupid thought. The nets would go 82-0 if that was the case. How canyou make a layup/dunk worth 3 points. It would destroy the idea of the whole game. In fact I think they should go back to the old format of everything being worth 2 points.
What is this? The MTV Rock n Jock game? Why don't they propose a rule that if you bounce the ball in off the floor in the hoop you get 5 points? Or how bout the last minute of every quarter is double time and every point you make gets doubled? Obviously I'm against this, because it sounds alittle ESPN...we need more highlights kind of an idea.
WOW what a stupid idea. Then what fast break treys are worth 4? Stupid idea. I think there would be more technicals cause players argue about what is a fastbreak and what isnt.
Crazy. very Crazy. everything I had to say was said here. All I gotta say though is it makes it better for the kings
