Another tidbit regarding Bend's boom right before the crash: It was the 10th fasting growing city in America at the time. Like Portland, the population is going to boom in the future.
Ha! That actually happens to everyone I know who go there for more than a weekend. My cousin spent two week there and he said it felt like two months. A strip of basically the same thing -- casino-hotel, casino-hotel, nightclub, casino-hotel. Oh, did I mention casino-hotel?
It just blows me away when I see parents walking around with their kids down here........ the same feeling I get when I see a mom and dad walking their kids down Bourbon Street! Clueless.....
Chicago has been a blast for 7 night,s last one being tonight. It was #2 on my US list, and has done nothing to drop itself. Made craploads of money here, for work and my brother is here for the weekend for work, too. Saw the Cubbies beat the Dbacks 4-1 today at Wrigley, and just got back to the Hyatt Regency. Dinner at Geno's in an hour for some deep dish Chicago-style pizza, and then an 8am flight back to PDX to spend a beautiful Sunday at PDX.
I liked Lake Oswego in the 60's. Bend's nice and coming into it's own. Portland was cool in the 70's-80's.
Well if you go to Miami you have to know where to visit. Some places are extremely beautiful and fun, other parts of downtown are rough. Be careful around downtown nightclubs. North Miami, Miami Beach, Kendall, Doral are cool imo.
Florida's garbage. I've been there a couple times. Too many elderly and non-speaking foreigners. The weather is garbage too, too much humidity and unpredictable.
Hmm I love Hispanic people so I may not be partial, but there are also posh places around here. The Summer is not as warm as Texas and other places, because of the ocean breeze. Humidity always blows though.
