Lil Wayne isn't bad. I son't understand why everyone is hating on him. Sure he may not be the most talented rapper, but he is still putting out better music than most in the mainstream

Hey, don't get me wrong...I actually like some of his songs.

But as far as talent goes, I think he has very little. I'd call him mediocre at best.

There's also David Banner. Obviously I don't like him for his lyrical ability, etc., but he's entertaining.

I only remember David Banner from Def Jam: Fight for New York. That gives me an indication that he's not very talented at all at rapping.

Well I downloaded Young Dro's CD and it's not that bad IMO. I like the song 100 yard dash. Lil Wayne isn't as bad as people make him sound but he goes off track a lot in his songs. Ludacris, when he tries can be an amazing rapper. I recommend listening to grew up a screw up featuring Young Jeezy. Game's new album should be very good and Lupe Fiasco is becomming one of my favorite artists.

Lupe Fiasco. Don't know if he's considered mainstream yet (though I would think he is), I think I'll pick his album up sometime. He has good lyrical ability, reminds me of Jay-Z in a sense. . who I also sometimes listen to.

Air Fresh Wrote

actually that would be another opinion...... An example of a fact would be that Wayne has had back to back platinum selling CD's.

No, actually it would be fact.

Having 2 platinum albums means nothing, 50 Cent has platinum albums, are you saying he's a better rapper than the likes of GZA? Lil' Wayne has been marketed very well, and the mainstream world have eaten him up.

How you can stand that plain, boring, monotone voice coupled with his shockingly bad delivery is beyond me. Not to mention the cliched metaphors that hardly ever make a point or sense.

I'm all for people having their own opinions, and I'm not getting on your case for liking Lil' Wayne, thats your choice, as much as it is mine to not listen to him, but I have to correct people when say he is a good rapper, because it simply isnt true. And I dont care if Jay-Z or Andre 3000 said he was good, what are they going to say about him? He's garbage? I dont think so.

I never said Andre 3000 said he was good, they asked him who he thought were some good rappers in the game right now. 3000 responded by saying "Wayne is the only one I check for" or something like that.

No actually what I said was an opinion is an opinion, This is an opinion:

Quote:

1. a belief or judgment that rests on grounds insufficient to produce complete certainty.
    2. a personal view, attitude, or appraisal.

A fact is something true based on quanitative or qualitative data. Wayne going platinum is just an indication that a lot of people are buying his music so obviously people think he can rap.

The same reasons why millions of other people like him.

The Detroit Lions are garbage, yet your still wearing a Eddie Drummond sig aren't you? You obviously like something about the Lions don't you? What do you see in them? They haven't made the playoffs in years. I know its a completely different topic, but its the same logic.

Quoting Air Fresh:

A fact is something true based on quanitative or qualitative data. Wayne going platinum is just an indication that a lot of people are buying his music so obviously people think he can rap.

I already flawed this logic once, but I'll do it again, since you seemed to have skipped over it. 50 Cent's first album went 6 times platinum, are you telling me he can rap? Does selling that many albums make him good? Album sales mean nothing. It's simply a figure which shows how many people are buying the album, but what the figures dont show, is that the majority of those people buying the records know nothing about Hip-Hop, and are buying the album based simply on the fact they think that its "cool" to listen to guys like Lil' Wayne and 50 Cent, due to the image they portray.

It's fact that Lil' Wayne has terrible delivery. It's fact that Lil' Wayne has a boring, monotone voice. It's fact Lil' Wayne has pointless, confusing metaphors. These are all facts. Just because you turn a blind eye to these things, doesnt turn it into a matter of opinion. Those are all factors which make a bad or poor rapper.

If you would like to show me examples of what makes Wayne a good rapper, by all means, feel free.

Quoting Air Fresh:

The Detroit Lions are garbage, yet your still wearing a Eddie Drummond sig aren't you? Actually it isnt the same logic.

Just gotta jump in here. None of those are facts. Calling his delivery "terrible" is an opinion. His voice may be monotone, but calling it "boring" is an opinion. Saying you are confused by his metaphors and that they are "pointless" is another opinion. Saying that those contribute to calling someone a bad rapper is an opinion. If you were being sarcastic than sobeit, but give me a break on calling them facts.

    Yup

and 50 Cents First ablum was a nice album. I'm not saying he is a good rapper, but that album was nice.

and how would you know if the majority of the people who bought the albums know nothing about hip-hop? That is what is called speculation.

Wayne doesn't even get played on BET-106 Park, and he is hardly ever on MTV or any other show. A lot of his success has come from his mixtapes, which mainstream fans hardly ever listen to.

Ok, and please explain to me why arnt they facts? Because every thing I stated, Wayne has proven in his music. Now wether you like him or not, thats a different story. I mean I like Dr. Dre, but I'll be the first person to tell you he is a bad rapper.

I guess I'm just an old school purist at heart, lol.

Still can't call those facts though. I mean, almost everyone might agree with it. And it might be really valid. But, you're judging him to standard of lyrical ability, flow that other people may not agree with. Not saying I disagree with you, because I haven't doubted anything you've said about Wayne. But, a fact would be something like "Lil Wayne is male." Saying "Lil Wayne sucks" or "he has terrible flow" are opinions, even if 99.9% agree with you.
