What's the temperature in hell today? I'm going to have to agree with BearsFan and have to admonish Favre on this one. Football contracts are not like real world contracts. Neither side has a guarantee that the other side with be fully honored. Why is it that people point fingers at football players, who only have a brief time to earn big bucks before their football playing days are over, want to renegotiate their contracts while they have leverage to do so? The same people say nothing when a multimillion dollar football franchise, that has been in existance since before we were born and will be here long after we're dead, cuts a player, who has made them money, gets injured or his skills diminish. Football contracts are made to be renegotiated. That's a fact. Jevon Walker needs to make hay while the sun is shining. If he gets a new contract and suffers an injury that affects his performance, do you think the Packers will "honor" his contract? No way. They will ask him to renegotiate. This isn't a case like Terrell Owens where the little brat is asking for a contract after one year. I think the Packers need to meet Jevon Walker halfway. I also think that Brett Favre needs to mind his own business. Brett will make more money than any player that has ever played for the Packers over the course of his career. I don't have a problem with that, but he needs to keep his nose out of his teammates trying to take care of their families. Jevon isn't pulling a Sterling Sharpe and holding out before a big game. There is time for the Packers to sit down with Walker's agent and get something done.
Well, Favre does have a bit of a point in that Walker's actions are hurting the team... Don't get me wrong, I actually support Walker on this one. I want to see him get paid because he deserves it (contrary to what you might think, football players ARE worth their money). The side effect of this hurting the Packers is just an added benefit for me.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Pack Attack)</div><div class='quotemain'>Moving forward, I think all NFL Contracts should have "no holdout" clauses in them.</div> I think all contracts should have a "Cut Bonus" in them to counter that. I.E. since the player cant hold out anymore to renogiate, if that team just cuts him cuz they dont want to pay contract they have to pay him a HUGE bonus

Screw him. Let him sit out for the year.

I think there are alot of good points here. (Who says football fans aren't intelligent?) But I can't help thinking that football has just become big business, it's not about winning anymore or having fun, it's about "I gots to get paid!"
SF, are you refering to the players or the owners when you say "I gots to get paid?" It's not like NFL franchises are non-profit agencies. I haven't seen too much product bearing the NFL logo that didn't cost a pretty penny, especially tickets. The difference is that Jerry Jones, Al Davis and the rest of the owners are going to make that money for decades upon decades. Jevon Walker has a few years to try and make as much money as he can before injuries and/or age catch up to him and he has to retire OR the Packers cut him (probably in the middle of a contract right before I big bonus) for a younger WR. I'm not saying that a player should hold out anytime they want more money, but there is a time when it is reasonable for a player to ask to renegotiate. Is there any question that a franchise will ask (meaning demand) a renegotiation if they think they aren't getting their money's worth?

The 1st about how players get cut before big bonuses, and the 2nd about demanding to renegotiate deals whn players are unproductive.
Now Darren Sharper is stepping in and saying Favre should be quiet and non one cares what he thinks. That's funny... One of the mouthiest Packers in history saying that Favre talks too much. Priceless.

Since Sharper's in Minnesota, it really isn't. Like I said before, let Walker hold out. We don't need him anyway.

No wins for the pack this season, unless farve has some deals worked out WINK WINK
Walker is agreat player dont get me wrong, but our other recievers are more than capable than picking up his pace, If Ferguson can stay healthy he will be able to produce almost identical results.
Fergusons career best season 38 receptions 4tds. Not going to replace walker. The team will just suck, completely and totally without or with him now.
But Remember Fergy was always used as the 3rd man, J Walk and Driver were usually the # 1 and # 2 guys, Him and Favre have displayed alot of Chemisty together especially during the Playoff's of 2003. Also during 2003 When ever Ferguson Led the receivers with TD's or receiving yards the packers had a win.

Finally, loaded stat, of course when your 2nd or 3rd option is getting a lot of yards you are going to win.
I love it when you Packer-hating guys pick apart everything Packers fans say on the boards and slam it. Bringing up Bill Schroeder is just a cheap shot. Florida Packer is right and so am I...we don't need Walker. There's a reason Ted Thompson drafted two receivers this year. One will handle kickoff and punt returns, the other will be number 3 behind Driver (a 1000 yard receiver last year) and Ferguson (who is having an AMAZING camp following LASIK surgery). Favre has had 4000 yard passing seasons in the past with no "names" to throw to. With or without Walker, our receiving corps will still be above average. By the way...seeing another Wisconsin Badger play for the Vikings makes me sick.
