The Rockets don't want any of our crap. They are trying to get big name players like CP3, Blake Griffin, Melo. Players like that. The Blazers are building from the draft and staying young. Building with potential.

Which explains why D'Antoni has no use for the guy.

Rumor is they are clearing cap space for another run at Chris Bosh.

And how do you think they acquire the cap space to sign those players?

According to the ESPN Trade Machine. Ezeli for Beverly straight up works (with the caveat that they still seem to be using 2016-17 salaries).

It gets us a defensive minded back up PG and helps HOU clear $6.7 million in cap space.

Would Houston be interested in a heavily protected first (plus Ezeli) for Beverley? Would Portland?

I was making fun of their last failed attempt to get Bosh. They gutted their roster to offer Bosh a max contract, he accepted and then pulled a DeAndre Jordan on them.

How about Ryan Anderson? We all know Stotts would love him. It would then make it easier for us to trade Crabbe in another deal since his shooting would be replaced. Give Houston Meyers and Ezeli along with a pick. It would save them what, 10-11m?

I'd start out with FEEC straight up for Pat Bev. If they balk, I'd throw in a top 45 protected future 2nd round pick. They purely looking for a salary dump, and won't be able to do better, in that regard, than FEEC.

Unless they include Pat Bev along with another contract they are trying to dump (Lou Williams or Ryan Anderson) to a team that's under under the cap far enough to absorb their contracts. Most teams that far under the cap are young rebuilding teams that are not likely to take on Ryan Anderson who is 29 and has 3 years and over $60 million left on his contract. Lou Williams is almost 31, but only has 1 year and $7 million left on his contract. So, they MIGHT be able to find a take for him + Pat Bev.

So, next question. Both FEEC for at Bev or FEEC for Lou Williams works. Which of the two would you rather have?

Personally, I'd take Pat Bev for his defense. The only way I'd take Lou Williams is if we can also move Allen Crabbe to some other team as a salary dump. Williams is a WAY better 6th man than Crabbe, and a LOT cheaper, but he's also 6 years older and would likely be a one year rental.

Didn't we just draft two power forwards? Anderson is a horrible defender, would be the oldest player on our roster and is owed over $60 million over the next three seasons.

Too old for our core and too expensive. He would make our cap/luxury tax hell situation even worse, and due to his complete lack of defense, not worth it.

Agreed. Lou Williams can create his own shot but he'd duplicate turner/crabbe. We don't have a PatBev.

Pat bev all day. It would also allow McCollum to play off the ball with the second unit, and I also like how bev could theoretically play with either CJ or Dame. He might be a backup on paper, but could see starter type minutes, especially if we trade another wing.

Sure we drafted two bigs, but they're still rookies. I realize Andersons weaknesses but I also know he's one of the best shooters in the league and profiles well next to Nurkic. And he's only 29. Not that old.
