That's chickenshit. You only do that if you're scared of losing and you're looking for an excuse.

The problem this time is (in part) that it's the world cup not the Olympics and it doesn't mean anything to the players. Hold it in the US and I bet they'll suddenly care.

[Worth noting: a lot of non-US players are skipping it too - Australia didn't have Ben Simmons or Dante Exum. Canada doesn't have a bunch of players. Does NZ have Steven Adams? I don't think so.]

What’s chickenshit? I think it’s pathetic so many USA guys don’t want to play. But it is what it is. As I said, it’s not the olympics so our top 40 guys don’t care. They want the big stage and the glory that comes with that.

Team USA should be the Harlem Globetrotters...ambassadors of goodwill! Let them get a shot at a title! They have something to play for!

Not a clue. Maybe some larrikin started the chant, and everyone else was bored enough to join in.

I like how when the crowd was chanting for Lopez to be put in, Pop trolled them by walking over to him, then didn’t put him in.

They went crazy when he eventually got in.

You must have one of those "open" marriages I've heard about.

Great passing by Spain v Tunisia.

31 assists to 16. Not just the numbers though, also the style; and always hitting the open cutter.

Jokic is possibly the best Center in the NBA, yet he can’t get the start for Serbia over Boban.

Similar points for each other, more rebounds for Boban, more assists, and minutes for Joker.

Their “standing” in the NBA couldn’t be more different.

    Could someone please educate me?

Is it the difference between the NBA game, and the FIBA game?

Is it the way Serbia chooses to use Jokic? If so why do they do this?

Is it Grandpa Simpson? A little from column A, a little from column B?

It's not like he cannot start over Boban. It's just the way coach Djordjevic approached this game. And in European basketball it doesn't matter at all who starts, lineups are not like the NBA that are mostly the same throughout the year.
For sure they value Jokic more, him and Bogdanovic are their go to guys and they play through them. They have 4 Centers and especially Boban and Milutinov are more than enough to beat almost all teams in the tournament so they will try to keep Jokic's minutes low till the games that really matter.

Love to see Scola at 39 years old playing for his National Team and destroying guys like Aminu, Udoh etc. What a legend!

I always thought that if I could absorb the skills of any basketball player it would be either Scola or Juan Carlos Navarro, because they can score on anybody despite having bodies of average people. (Okay, so Scola's tall, but he probably can't dunk even at his height.)

Sidenote: he finally cut his greasy locks and looks good!
