We agree on this. Not because of the money or the risk/reward imbalance, but because Dame looked gassed af by the second round.
You don't know many greek players i suppose. No they are definitely not. Especially Kostas is not even in top30 i would say. Thanasis maybe top20.
While I understand the reason I still believe he shouldn't waste the chance to get a gold medal. I doubt he will be in the Olympics squad.
I drank beer with the Australian soccer team during the Munich Oktoberfest back in 89. I don't remember much except that it was a blast and it was the first time I have ever seen anyone drink beer out of a nasty ass shoe.
I know we all Love Dame, and I do too, but if I had one complaint about him, it’s that his intensity goes up when its guys who he feels have disrespected him, or he feels the media is disrespecting him. I didnt think he looked gassed, but theres been a pattern in his career when he starts getting the “respect” and the props he deserves he plays differently. I wish Steph would start dishing on him and that Draymond and him werent so buddy buddy, because he’s a freaking monster when he’s got the disrespect chip on his shoulder.
They need to start recruiting more guys to come on with all these guys dropping out. Dame is the unquestioned #1 on this team so far. Really hope he stays on.
It's pretty easy to tell that the FIBA world cup is not that big of a deal for the "superstars" of the NBA. I actually wouldn't mind Dame withdrawing too.
They're going to need to open FIBA camp up for applications pretty soon if many more of the invitees bow out.
It's surprising. Consider the tournament is in China, you'd figure this would be a cash cow for guys who have signature shoes. Especially CJ who wears Li Ning.
Probably don’t want to bother with being in China when they can just hang out in LA and play pickup and chill until the season starts. Only thing I can think of as to why so many guys pulled out.
https://www.theringer.com/nba/2019/7/22/20704216/team-usa-basketball-damian-lillard Can Damian Lillard Be Team USA’s Captain America? NBA stars are pulling out of the pool for the U.S.’s FIBA World Cup team left and right. Can Lillard step up as the leader and take Dame Time international?
I'm so torn on this. I'd love to watch Dame excel on that stage but I also understand the value of resting this summer.
He was playing when I made that post, but has since withdrawn. He is going to play the warmup games versus Canada, and the USA though. Australia v USA in front of 50,000 should be good, and considering the number of US withdrawals, I’d give Australia a good chance of victory.
